Fresh off a crucial road win against a ranked Florida team over the weekend, Alabama was unable to build on its momentum Tuesday night, falling 67-63 to Mississippi State inside of Humphrey Coliseum in Starkville, Miss.

The Crimson Tide fought back from as many as nine points in the second half but was unable to find the shots it needed late to claim back-to-back road wins for the first time this season. Alabama shot 18 of 49 (37 percent) from the floor, including just 3 of 22 (14 percent) from beyond the arc.

Mississippi State didn’t shoot much better but made baskets when they counted as Quinndary Weatherspoon and Nick Weatherspoon combined for 31 points on the night. Alabama also lost the rebound battle 36-29 and allowed the Bulldogs to score 17 points off of turnovers. The game marked Alabama’s first rematch of the season as the Crimson Tide beat the Bulldogs 68-62 last month in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Alabama falls to 15-9, 6-5 in the SEC with the loss, while Mississippi State improves to 18-6, 6-5 with the win.

Here are some notes from the game:
