- Alabama shot lights out from 3 (10-20) and do an excellent job on defense forcing Tennessee into tough, long jumpers.

- John Petty loves playing at Tennessee. He had the big 30 point game two years ago and now scored 19 on 4/4 from 3.

- Alabama left a lot of points out on the court, but out scoring UT 30-26in the paint was not something I saw coming.

-Biggest win for Nate Oats so far.

- JQ looks very comfortable off the bench

Whatever happened at practice when Petty and Rojas got suspended, seemed to work. No doubt this team can put the ball in the hoop, but the way they have played their asses off on defense the last two games is how the game is played.

offense doesn’t always play, but defense always travels. Effort!! That’s what has made a huge difference with this team, the past week!

That's 2 games and 2 victories in row that Petty and Quinerly played aggressive offensively.
I don't know why but up until SEC play this was not the JQ running point. Nobody can stay in front of him. Maybe it is the move to the bench but there appears to have been a conscience decision from CNO to run more ISO for him. Ghost screen by Petty tonight for the huge 3 was a great call by Oats.

I honestly think we forget he has gone two years without playing in a real competitive game. I think it has just taken him some time to get comfortable.

1. Herb is not a PG. Too many times he drove the lane, didn't look to dish to an open teammate, and either had his shot blocked (4 times) or he left the ball on the front of the rim. It may have evened out if he was drawing fouls (nadda one). JQ, on the other hand, had their number when he drove the lane and unlike Herb, he actually put the ball in the basket.
2. Rojas can get a lil wild, but is a much needed big-body when it comes to banging inside.
3. Overall, it was a great team win, coaching included.

I'm hoping that playing some tough teams early will pay off as far as our toughness in the Conference. Denny Crum used to schedule really tough opponents when Louisville was in the old Metro Conference and by the time they made it to conference play and the tournament they were a tough team to play. Like Jimmy Dykes said last night, "I like a team that has bit of "dirt" on them because it makes them tough."

Haven't been on the board in about a week, but wanted to chime in on hoops. Quinerly and Primo both did a solid job beating their guys off the dribble. We got hammered a couple of times that weren't called but the run of 3's in the second half was obviously the difference. That kind of shooting will keep us in every game. Still wonder about Reese at times. Dude is getting wide open looks and missing most. Either way, hell of a game and a great win.
