-Wow. This is Alabama’s first win in Rupp Arena since 2006.

- I once read a thread on here earlier this year that Nate Oats can’t coach and/or isn’t the answer here. Anyone still thinking that?

-Down their starting PG for a third straight game, losing Herb in the first half and Bruner the second half, Alabama continued to roll as John Petty finished with 23 and Shack finished with 18 to lead the Tide.

-Bama got back to their roots hitting 14/30 threes which is absurd on the road at Rupp. In a game where Kentucky shot 24 FT to Alabama’s 13. This team is near unbeatable when they’d shoot from 3 that well.

-The depth of this team was the biggest strength coming into the season and it has shown up as of late. Getting contributions from guys like Primo, Ellis, Reese, Rojas have all paid great dividends. Even down 3 starters for most of the game, they continued to blow out Kentucky in Rupp.

-Injury report: Herb Jones likely dislocated his finger. Jordan Bruner seemed to have a bad knee injury. Jahvon Quinerly will likely be back for the game Saturday.

All reports (verified) and radio said knee for Bruner.

A dislocated finger and sprained ankle would be the best possible news based on how things looked...totally hope that is correct

You’re right on the Bruner injury. I was having to listen to espn radio and they originally reported ankle. I was just able to see it when I got home and it didn’t look good.

Coach Oats just said it is a hand injury and not a wrist for Herb Jones. He said nothing is broken but will be out a while.

He said it was a knee injury for Bruner and he and Herb are going to Birmingham to be evaluated.

Apparently Coach Cal said Bama player was talking smack to him at the end. Saying it was Primo. If so Coach needs to sit his tail down and teach him the right way to win. You go in Kentucky and get a win like that and you walk off the court like you were supposed to win.

That’s good and bad. Hate that be will be out, but maybe not a season ending injury. Not sure what we will do without Bruner if he’s out. Both big for us to be successful obviously.

It was Primo. I saw it and naively thought Cal was complementing him lol. Hope we get the story here.

He wasn’t talking smack, he was just having playful fun. Coach Cal wasn’t even mad he said it. They’re not robots.

If Herb really has a dislocated finger I can’t imagine why he’d be out for a while.
I saw one of his fingers looking awkward when he was holding it which is why I say that. It’s about the only thing he could’ve done to his hand without breaking something

Haha! Well glad to hear thats all it was. Didn’t like the idea of us saying stupid stuff after such a big win. Thanks for the clarification!

That’s puzzling to me as well. I know each situation is different, but I dislocated my pinky in a softball game. Ump popped it back in place, after about 3 innings I got the feeling back in it and was fine.

@Harper41 sure do hope you’re correct on a sprained ankle, but Bruner looked like a torn ACL to me
Where the hell were you? Court side?
you could tell the difference?
There wasn‘t much video on the play but if you say so...

It was a non-contact injury and he was clearly grabbing his knee when he got helped back to the bench. Non-contact knee injuries are usually ACLs. Certainly hope I’m wrong, but it’s not an ankle injury.

Can you believe that shit man?? Sorry, but dang. When he grabbed that left wrist I wanted to cry. Seriously hope it's his finger. Just shaking my head when Bruner went down. Maybe it isn't as bad as we fear. What an unbelievable shame it would be to lose starters mid-season. This was looking like it was finally our year...to make the tourny without sweating it out lol but maybe more. When we're hitting I agree with Harper; who beats us? Not losing many if we shoot well. I thought the defensive effort was certainly there tonight.
Problems: JMO, but Rojas is painful to watch. When he starts driving toward the paint, way too frequently btw, my only question is will he be able to get the shot off so that it can miss or will it just get blocked in his face? Usually blocked in his face. The occasional traveling call thrown in. Primo is no PG. He's a baller but not as a true PG. I think he's great, don't misunderstand. Also, I felt Ellis would make good aggressive moves and drives but once in the air tried several awkward, wrap-around passes that went for TO's. A little hesitant maybe. I believe Ellis will be much improved next season having gotten adjusted to the level of competition. The injuries sting. I'd say I couldn't be happier but I'd be much happier with Herb having ten good fingers and Bruner two legs. Wonder when we'll get definitive news on JQ's return. Saturday I hope. Still, we're 5-0 bitches. Remember how many trashed the season after Stanford?? I do. FOGs lol.

Losses to three of our guys is bad and need one or two of them back soon. But this team is really well built and starting to play well together. Capable of being the better team most times out, as we're starting to see. Should get and keep a ranking here pretty soon I hope. To me we were just a superior team to kentucky. Although we've beaten them a few times, I've certainly never said or even thought that before.

Herb can play against Arky with a bad finger after what he did last year! Tough Dude!

Our M2M Team defense has improved sooooo much since over the past month. We are forcing a lot of turnovers just by mirroring the ball and getting a piece of the dribble and passes.

Loved seeing a shot clock violation against Kentucky. The injuries absolutely hurt, but I think we can all agree Oates has them playing hard and has them bought in to the program.

I know we've beaten Kentucky in recent years, mostly at home when we capitalized on emotion and atmosphere and were lucky to catch UK on a bad night. Last night was the first time in many years where we were clearly the superior team to them.

The way this team has gelled during SEC play is nothing short of amazing. As 1-3-1 previously posted our man-to-man defense is at an elite level right now. Injuries to Herb and Bruner will hurt, especially Bruner as that looks like season ending but hopefully other guys step up.

My only real gripe right now is that I just don't see what Rojas brings to the team right now??? Aside from his 5 allotted fouls and the occasional rebound. He is a complete liability on the offensive end of the court and is one of our weakest defenders.

Luck = Preparation + Opportunity

I think the Kentucky team we played was the real Kentucky team. We made them play bad.

It was obvious our defense was giving them fits. Hard to believe that a Cal coached Kentucky team couldn't beat any of our defenders off the dribble, and on the other side of the court struggled to stop our guys from driving to the basket.

Also, it would be cool if neither injury was that bad and we win the next 5 while getting Gary, Primo, Ambrose, and Ellis really going.
sounding like bruner maybe gone for the season. herb a game or two. hope i am wrong on bruner

When we get JQ back I think we can ride out the storm if Herb is out. Bruner loss will definitely hurt though. Somebody is going to have to step up off the bench.

Dislocated finger for Herb is the best possible news. I think Bruner has a knee injury.
That's a shame. He was just starting to get into a groove. I pray for a speedy successful recovery. That damn injury bug just won't leave the Capstone!

After Kentucky win - #24 NET Ranking and #20 KenPom

According to KenPom, 0ut of the top 20 teams, we have the 5th hardest schedule (#32). Only Texas, Illinois, Kansas and West Virginia have tougher schedules to this point.

Reading the comments the sense is that Bruner is out. Has there been any announcement today?
