Sharing some Alabama football history that some may not know. The "old Farts" thread brought back memories of Fred Sington, a former All American Alabama player whose team won a National Championship in 1930. I was privileged to know him and through him learned about the Alabama Crimson Tide connection to Hollywood. The first Alabama National Championship was for the 1925 season, played in the Rose Bowl, and was also Alabama's very 1st ever bowl game. Alabama's Johnny Mack Brown was named the Rose Bowl MVP and went on to appear in 160 Hollywood movies. Through Johnny Mack, Fred Sington met Rudy Vallee (then famous singer/actor) who released a hit song called Football Freddy about the Crimson Tide's All American Fred Sington.
