Anybody besides me notice he was missing last night? Did I miss something. Really holding out hope he can help us in the future.

Yep, didn't see him on the bench. I was hoping He's not playing because He's still not 100 percent healed from his injury. His highlights just look so good, but I guess highlights can be deceiving.

I don’t know a thing about it. I watched him shooting during his rehab and he was stroking it. Harper or someone says he can’t guard. That may be the case. He will probably leave and go somewhere else and play well.

if i remember correct, he moved up a class and was still a top 40 recruit. who the hell was he playing against?

I've watched some AAU clips so there is obviously talent on the floor. Now nobody is playing lock down defense but there isn't a chance in hades that he would be any worse at shooting wide open 3's than the current collection of bigs. I'm guessing he's just really bad or lazy at doing all of the little things.

Should name the Oats doghouse after this kid as it seems he's never been anything but in the doghouse.

Yes, wasn’t on the court at all last night and I don’t expect to see him back next year.

He was on Twitter space last night and seems like a great kid that understands where he is in his development. He’s not with the team in Kentucky he said due to illness(I think).

he said he grew up only playing guard and learning to play the 4-5 has been very difficult. He said he struggled with the physicality.

if you take a step back, he’s a kid that came here as a senior in HS and had his developmental year wrecked by a terrible injury. Now he’s still the age of a freshman and recovering from the injury plus having to learn how to play his positions. Just a guy that’s going to take time to reach any kind of potential. Idk if he will stay at bama but I think he’s just a development guy that could be good in time but fans were kind of sold that we were getting Kevin Durant like skillset so it’s been odd from our point of view

good to hear. i`m pulling for him.

Y’all stop with Alex lol. He will never help Alabama I’ve been trying to tell you. Expect him to transfer. He’s not good.

How is this possible? The Insta video you referenced he displayed more ball handling and finishing ability that any other big on our team. He’s 6’11” and can shoot. I just don’t get it. Number 40 recruit in the nation

So you are one of those fans who gives up on players if they don't come right in ready to play? He has all the tools. So if oats feels the same way, maybe he transfer to a coach who knows how to develop him and he lives up to his potential.

Oh I’m not giving up on him because he didn’t come in and play right away. I’m just telling you based on what I’ve seen in practice and been told. I was really high on him coming in, but he has zero fundamentals or basketball IQ.

Saying he will never help Alabama is giving up on him.

Wouldn't basketball IQ and fundamentals fall on the coaching staff to some degree? Two of the biggest problems I had with Avery Johnson was that it appeared to me that he ran his program like an NBA organization in that player's development is place squarely on the players. It's a job in the NBA and it's up to the players to get themselves better or find themselves out of the league. I may be off on thinking that but players didn't get better under Avery. The other thing was I felt Avery couldn't get his message across to college kids. It was when I felt like the team no longer played hard for him that I jumped on the Avery needs to be replaced train.

But I believe a good basketball coach can teach a kid fundamentals, especially on that, as posted above, has admitted to never playing the 4 or 5 position Bama wants him to play. The kid can dribble and he can shoot, on top of that he has what you can't teach which is athleticism and height. You can't teach 6'11 and you damn sure can't teach 6'11 that can shoot.

I know Alex injury must have slowed down his development, but letting him transfer would be a mistake IMO. We have seen players like Obasohan and Roy Rodgers come out of nowhere to have All-SEC seasons. Alex t seems to have more nature ability than both of them. instead of this forcing players to transfer out because you want an instant fix, put in the work, coach these players you have up, and get the best out of them. So do the job you're getting paid to do...

Just rewatched all his highlight tapes. He must have the best video editor of all time. I get what Harper's saying because he's seen him in person. But his film is just to good to say you can't develope this kid into a good player. If he leaves 3 or 4 years from now this kid will probably be in the NBA. Until the fan base see's this kid in person, unfortunately nobody's going to buy Harper's story. There's just to much on tape you can't teach 6"11 guys. If Alex can't be developed then Bama basketball is in the wrong business..

Alex has more God-given physical ability than any big man we’ve had in some time. I get it if he’s not ready at this moment… but a 6’11” kid who’s used to playing guard running point? Ummmm yes please

He’s only played 2 years of organized basketball and just tore his Achilles. He’s way behind more skilled guys who have played their whole lives. It’s not that Nate can’t develop him, it’s he’s been on the sidelines since he’s been at Bama injured and then gets suspended for going to play in a internet streamed celebrity game (while injured). He lacks maturity and it’ll take a lot of time to get him where he needs to be. He’s barely competing with walk ons right now

He still has time to develop both.
