names Kirby "Coach-In-Waiting", setting up his retirement from the game in a few years, leaving Kirby the run the ship? A move like this, especially during all the coaching changes would change the landscape of coaching hires for sure, and allow Bama to move forward in a very positive way.

Face it, Kirby is the face of our recruiting efforts in Georgia, and a move to the Dawgs would have major impacts on the decisions of many who are looking at both programs. If somehow, we could keep Kirby, I think that knowledge would allow us to come out ahead, as recruits wouldn't be looking over their shoulder to see when Saban gonna leave (it would be known), and who is going to replace him........Plus keeping Smart here solidifies their knowledge that he isn't going anywhere.

Realize this is a selfish thought, but I really believe that Smart would lead Bama in a similar manor that Saban does. When we, as a program, got away from the type of coaches like Bear and Stallings, we started trying to hire the "flavor of the month" guys, guys that looked to make a new blueprint for Alabama Football. Have to think that while Kirby would make the job his own, he would stay truer to the "Bama" way than any other coach we could get, even Dancing Dabo. He is well respected here and abroad.....and would keep the recruiting pipelines open, and the defense strong.
