I hesitated to post a week ago because negative looms large in here some. This team is dialed in right now. This was not the case a couple weeks ago. There was turmoil. The Petty situation was a bad one but may have been what was needed to get it all out in the air. Ultimatums were given. The team has responded. It could have went the other way. Oats demands respect and hard work at ALL times. He’s not letting up and it appears at this time the team has figured it out. The biggest thing has been a desire to come together and play for each other.

Anyone know where I can watch the replay of todays game?

It got heated with him and Coach Oats during practice.
I don't expect you to give out too many details but can one assume Rojas sided with Petty or were they in the doghouse for separate reasons?
- Glad to have a coach who doesn't cower to the players.
- Sad that in all of his time at Bama a Sr. like Petty still has to be checked by the coach.
- Happy that Oat's ultimatum shows the younger guys that they better have their s#^! straight.

Everything you said is correct. And both were told to get their s—— and leave.

Rojas was in the doghouse for a separate reason on a different day.

From what I have heard Petty has been disengaged and really not bought in since the whole absence from the team while deciding to go pro or return. And Oats pretty much told him he wasn’t good enough and he better get it going or he would be done! Pretty much made an example of him and told team that he refuses to play you unless you play his way which is being tough, hard nosed, and unselfish. Not sure about Rojas but this team can be really dangerous if all of the pieces come together. Rojas seems like a tough player but he needs to chill on offense...he jacks the 3 to quickly for me.

I don’t even mind him taking an open 3... but he should never, under any circumstances run a fast break

I agree. What gets me is when somebody like Petty or Reese gets a rebound or a steal and they outlet the ball to a Bruner or Rojas. I get that you want to get the fast break going but you've got to be smart enough to know that that's a dumb way to try and set up your offense.

Not trying to make too much out of this, but I saw a video of the locker room celebration after the game and Petty was sitting off by himself away from the team.

Bruner is more skilled at dribbling than Rojas. He seems like a better passer, too.

Was it this one? At the end it looks like Oats comes over to him at the end. I am hoping that Petty is just more of a loner. He did seem to take on more of a leadership role last night. He would grab the guys during the foul shot huddles and it looked like he was leading the talk. On another note, at least they are huddling. The first few games they didn’t do that.

Petty and Quinerly need to take ownership of the team. Petty's attitude and the success of this team will determine if he has a Nba future.
I agree. Hopefully, last night was the first step. I don’t mind Herb taking certain guys to the rack because of size and speed. He has gotten better. Against Pons, that is a different story. Pons was owning Herb, plus he got away with some ridiculous fouls. Quinerly has showed an impressive burst of speed the last 2 games. Not as fast as Kira, but pretty damn fast.

We've seen Petty show the ability to be aggressive and get open for a shot and create a shot. We've seen him penetrate and dish. We've seen him penetrate and score. He has to learn to do all of that all the time and he will get his wish and be in the Nba...sorry sweetlou but he is lazy and disengaged offensively all the time.

Quinerly needs to play like you've seen him play when he is determined to get past his defender and get to the rim or penetrate and pass..All the Time.

If those 2 do this Herb will be in better position to take better shots and he will be better because of it.

Everything will fall in place for Shackleford if Petty, Quinerly,Herb accomplish the above.

Primo needs to be more like last night and get better.

Reese needs to start hitting shots and keep Rojas off the floor

Ellis needs to keep working and getting better to back up Petty,Shack and Primo so they can rest if they're going to play hard.

If all the above happen, final 4

Petty and Oats are good. John’s head is where it needs to be. He went through a lot trying to make a decision for his future. Petty has a lot going on in his life. Oats job is to not let it effect the team. What happened was needed.

I am going to back Lou, here. I don’t think Petty has played lazy in the games. Who knows about practice, but I feel like he has played harder this year on both sides of the court. Otherwise, I agree with most everything you said.

There's 2 Petty's, one that plays hard and the one that is engaged, plays harder and faster.

When I say Petty is lazy, he's the lazy version of Petty.

I don't disagree but with an outlet to a "5" your are basically just hoping to successfully get the ball across half court. They either slow down and pass the ball back to a trailing guard or turn the ball over.

I agree, but part of Oats offense is to have every player be able to push the ball up the floor for the easy basket in transition. The difference this year is that other teams are sprinting back and not allowing for the easy baskets. We seemed to have adapted to it the last 2 games.

Thanks for your post T WIGS, you always bring good info.

Apparently Rojas thinks that's why we recruited him! The most offensively unskilled, least athletic ball hog of all time. And he's only 6'6 I don't care what y'all say.

LA S.W.A.T. would have been proud of Pons.

It is difficult to figure out "head cases."🤔

We are loaded with guys that should run one, on a team that wants to run ALL of the time.
