Alabama
Alabama hosted several official visitors this past weekend. A few names are new to most Alabama recruiting fans like Amir Rasul, Sci Martin and Vosean Joseph.

IMO, a lot of the players who visited campus this past weekend are 'wait-and-see' type players. What I mean by this is they are behind other top targets on the recruiting board. Alabama has high interest in these players and wanted to bring them in for further evaluation (off-the-field), but with so many targets and so few scholarships remaining they will have to wait for others to tell Alabama no before given a green light to commit.

My thoughts on each visitor:

A.J. Brown, Rivals100 wide receiver from Starkville High School in Miss.
Alabama made another strong move for the elite receiver target this past weekend. Brown asked for reporters not to interview him following the trip to Tuscaloosa. The coaching staff is very excited about their current position with Brown. He has been a key recruiting target for Alabama, and the staff has compared him to NFL All-Pro Julio Jones. There is a heavy amount of in-state pressure. However, things look very good for Alabama at this point.

Keith Gavin, four-star wide receiver from Wakulla High School in Crawfordville, Fla.

Gavin returned to Tuscaloosa for his official visit. He has visited Alabama several times throughout his recruitment. He has been recruited hard by the Alabama coaching staff, and remains a top priority target. Gavin decommitted from FSU in the fall. Alabama and Florida State continue to battle for his signature. He will take an official visit to Florida State before announcing a final decision on signing day. It's a very tight battle between the two. Alabama is pressing hard for Gavin, and believe a great chance to land him.

Jared Mayden, four-star cornerback from Sachse High School in Texas
Alabama is in great position after the weekend with Jared Mayden, four-star cornerback from Sachse High School in Texas. Mayden recently decommitted from Oregon. He has a great relationship with Alabama defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt which started when Pruitt was at Georgia. It gives Alabama a great chance to land his signature. He is a top target for the Crimson Tide. Mayden and his family have high interest. Alabama is in very good shape with Mayden at this time.

Jack Jones, five-star cornerback from Poly High School in Long Beach, Calif.
Jones recently added an offer from Alabama, and quickly scheduled an official visit with the Crimson Tide. Jones has remained low-key throughout his recruitment. The general thought is he will stay on the West Coast with USC the most likely destination.

Drake Davis, four-star wide receiver from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
The LSU commitment made a surprise visit to Alabama. He has shown increased interest in Alabama in the last few months. The visit doesn't look like anything more than an opportunity to visit Tuscaloosa after recruited by Alabama for several months. Davis, who is originally from Louisiana, is expected to stick with the Tigers.

Mykel Jones, Rivals100 wide receiver from Patterson High School in La.

Jones has been recruited by Alabama for a long time. He has been quiet since his visit to Alabama. He has high interest in Alabama, Ole Miss and Tennessee. The Rebels are possibly in the best position to land his commitment since he has formed a close friendship with five-star quarterback Shea Patterson. There are a few other receivers who are above Jones on Alabama's board, but the staff is still recruiting him and likely take him down the road.

Nick Eubanks, four-star tight end from American Heritage High School in Plantation, Fla.

Eubanks is another recruit who has kept very quiet throughout the year. Alabama has recruited him for a long time. His older brother, Kobie Eubanks, is a former Alabama basketball commitment (now at Texas A&M). Alabama has been looking to add another tight end in this class. Devin Asiasi, four-star from De La Salle High School in Concord, Calif., does not appear likely. Eubanks might end up in the class. He likely won't announce a final decision until signing day.

Amir Rasul, four-star running back from Coral Gables High School in Fla. (FSU commitment)

Rasul recently received an offer from Alabama. He said he had a great visit to Tuscaloosa, and the visit has given him a lot to think about the next few weeks. There are a few other running backs who remain higher targets for Alabama including Florida commitment LaMical Perine, four-star from Theodore High School in Ala., and Ole Miss commitment D'Vaughn Pennamon, four-star from Manvel High School in Texas. Both are expected to take official visits to Alabama this weekend.

Vosean Joseph, three-star linebacker from Norland High School in Miami, Fla. (Florida commitment)
Joseph received an offer from Alabama in December. He was blown away by the visit to Tuscaloosa this past weekend. Joseph says Alabama and Florida are at the top of his list with a final decision coming on signing day. He is behind Alabama targets Ben Davis, Mack Wilson and Dontavious Jackson on the Alabama recruiting board.

Sci Martin, three-star defensive end from McDonough 35 High School in New Orleans, La. (TCU commitment)
Martin had a great senior season which attracted additional offers from schools like Alabama and LSU. He will take an official visit to LSU this weekend. Martin had a great time in Tuscaloosa. It was the second time he visited Alabama. He is a pass rushing specialist much like Crimson Tide star Tim Williams who is also from New Orleans. He remains someone to watch for Alabama, but will also likely need a few top defenders to go elsewhere in order to sign with the Tide.

The Alabama coaching staff is very excited about the upcoming weekend. The majority of their top remaining targets will head to campus for the national championship celebration. They know this is the biggest recruiting weekend of the year. It will go a long way in determining whether Alabama will finish with a top five recruiting class.
