Just enjoy a very good basketball season. We over achieved, won an SEC championship and made the Sweet Sixteen. We got a great coach and alot of talent coming. This is just the start. RTR
All big loses in the tournament hurt when you have a good enough team to be a legit contender. But....when we lost to Providence nobody was going to beat them that night. Just got terrible unlucky. Tonight the loss was on us, not our opponent, so that stings worse.Yea I’m gonna be upset we lost in overtime while shooting 44% from the FT line for the game. Should have won by 7+ in regulation. That makes it awful. It would have been different had UCLA just kept making every single contested shot all night like the first half and we just couldn’t fight back, but no, we choked on a big one at the line
Your exactly right! I said this from the start......basketball is not football you cant just expect to be back every year and great teams take advantage of opportunities and we did not!We can be happy about our season. Losing to an 11 seed, play in team, in the sweet 16 because we shoot 12-25 from the FT line is not anything to be happy about. I am not saying we can not, or will not, have a good team in the future, but the odds of us ever being the highest ranked #2 seed, getting to play an 11 seed,(with their best player fouling out) in the sweet 16 again in our lifetime is astronomical. I am 50, and there is a good chance this was the best shot BB will ever have at winning a NC. I hope I am wrong.
Losing because overall we stunk it up.Being outplayed and losing to the better team is one thing
Losing b/c you can't hit a single FT is another
I am, obviously, down right now, but the people who just think in today’s college BB landscape, that we can turn the lights back on next season and go 16-2 in the SEC, be a #2 seed, and face an 11 seed in the sweet 16 are just fooling themselves. Does Bama have a chance at a good BB team in the future? I sure would like to think so, but for those of us who have watched for 40+ years, we know it is just nowhere near that easy or guaranteed of occurring again. This isn’t like when our football team(a totally different sport) lost to Auburn in ‘19. How many Kentucky and Duke fans thought their teams had a chance at a NC coming into this year, and they didn’t even make the tournament, and trust me, their recruits are ranked higher than the ones we have coming in.Your exactly right! I said this from the start......basketball is not football you cant just expect to be back every year and great teams take advantage of opportunities and we did not!
I watched Alabama play Indiana in 1976 and Alabama may have been the best team in the country.Lol at y’all thinking this is the last chance for Alabama. Y’all keep doubting like y’all did in December I’m sure

Indiana went undefeated but Alabama was up 1 with under 3 minutes left and could not close it out.
I thought no big deal dieal we will get back be in the final 4 maybe win a national championship in my lifetime. It's not happened. I don't think it ever will. And for you to be dismissive and think OH just gonna happen is absolutely ridiculous
I agree man. I am bummed as well but geez can we have a little appreciation for what this team did over the past 3 months?? This team wins it all if we have Self, Williams, Cal, or coach K right? Ooops.Lol at y’all thinking this is the last chance for Alabama. Y’all keep doubting like y’all did in December I’m sure
I don’t think too many fans are saying this is our last chance at a good BB team, but I do think that some realize that this may be the best opportunity with the way things played out this year that we may ever have.Lol at y’all thinking this is the last chance for Alabama. Yea and there’s a lot more fans who have faith in our coach. Will we be in the sweet 16 every year? Doubt it. Will this be the our best chance to win it all? I just don’t see how that makes sense.I don’t think too many fans are saying this is our last chance at a good BB team, but I do think that some realize that this may be the best opportunity with the way things played out this year that we may ever have.
I am on the same page as you. I said the same thing to myself for years too. I am not saying we don’t have a chance at a good team next season/near future, but the people who just think that this is some easily repeatable feat to get to where we were, and even more so with the chance to advance vs an vastly inferior seeded opponent, have just not been paying attention over the years. I am proud of the season this team had? Sure. That’s because I realize from watching Bama for 40 years how rare these opportunities are.I watched Alabama play Indiana in 1976 and Alabama may have been the best team in the country.

I am not sure how old you are, or how long you have been watching Bama BB(no offense meant in any way my fellow Bama BB fan), but if you think we will be seeded higher than the highest ranked #2 seed, plus get to play a play in #11 seed in the sweet 16, in the near future, I have to disagree. The odds of being one of the best 5 BB teams in the country, and at a non blue blood, and playing that low a seed in the final 16 are very, very, VERY low.Yea and there’s a lot more fans who have faith in our coach. Will we be in the sweet 16 every year? Doubt it. Will this be the our best chance to win it all? I just don’t see how that makes sense.

I am of the opinion seeds don’t mean much. It’s about playing your best at the right time. I also think that we’ll have much more talented teams in the future. I don’t think this is the end. I think we’ll consistently be in the tournament in the future. Just because we were a 2 seed playing an 11 seed doesn’t mean this was our best chance. Been a Bama basketball fan for 20 years. I don’t think our history has anything to do with our future. New coach and new players in the future. This isn’t the end. Tip of the iceberg of how good we can be under Oats.I am not sure how old you are, or how long you have been watching Bama BB(no offense meant in any way my fellow Bama BB fan), but if you think we will be seeded higher than the highest ranked #2 seed, plus get to play a play a #11 seed in the sweet 16, in the near future, I have to disagree. I truly hope you are right, but trust me when I tell you seeds matter. The highest seeded teams tend to have a much greater chance of making the final 4 and winning it all. History has shown that. Just even looking at this year, down to the final 8, and the favorites in those games to advance to the final 4 are 3 #1 seeds, and a #2 seed.I am of the opinion seeds don’t mean much. It’s about playing your best at the right time. I also think that we’ll have much more talented teams in the future. I don’t think this is the end. I am with you on some of this, but a 20 year man walking out of the Mojave desert should shoot better than 12-25 from the FT line.I’m sure I’m in the minority here. But I never expected this good of a season. Even at the beginning of the tournament when people were picking us for the final 4 I never bought it. We turn over the ball too much and have too many cold spells from our outside shooters. We had a great bench and we won a bunch of close games. Oats squeezed every drop that he could have out of this group of players and it was good enough to get to overtime of the sweet 16.
As far as all the missed free throws are concerned. That’s fatigue. I thought we looked like a tired banged up basketball team. Which we were.
And would’ve gotten a very very beatable 1 seed in the elite 8. We had the easiest path to the final four that we’ll ever have.I am not sure how old you are, or how long you have been watching Bama BB(no offense meant in any way my fellow Bama BB fan), but if you think we will be seeded higher than the highest ranked #2 seed, plus get to play a play in #11 seed in the sweet 16, in the near future, I have to disagree. That many missed free throws is mental. Free throws are nothing but muscle memory.I am with you on some of this, but a 20 year man walking out of the Mojave desert should shoot better than 12-25 from the FT line.
Agreed. We didn’t have to play even one single digit seeded team until the final 8, and the one seed we would of had to play is as weak a one seed as I have seen in some time. These people that think we are going to getting an easier run than that, even if we are ranked a #1 seed(which I am not realistically expecting anyway), have not been watching BB on the same planet I have been. And would’ve gotten a very very beatable 1 seed in the elite 8. Michigan has looked dang good this tournament so I don’t know what you mean by that. The better team doesn’t always win in the tournament. Probably not even half the time. It doesn’t matter what seed you are, all it takes is one game. Heck, the year Alabama went to the elite eight, they weren’t even that good. They just got hot, just like UCLA did. To think we couldn’t make a run like that again is crazy. Just because a lot of you are scarred from Wimp not being able to get past the sweet 16 doesn’t mean it won’t happen. Wimp ran into some great teams in the sweet 16 and nearly won them and if he had how would the narrative have changed? This was definitely an odd season and tournament and had an opportunity to go far, but sometimes it doesn’t happen. Illinois getting blown out by an 8 seed or Ohio St losing to a 15 wasnt expected either, but they’ll be right back the following season just like Alabama will.Agreed. Add the opportunity missed and last night was a gut punch. How often are you going to have this many of the Blue Bloods of CBB down at the same time?Being outplayed and losing to the better team is one thing
Losing b/c you can't hit a single FT is another
You’ll look back at what you’re saying and say you’re overreacting in the moment. Alabama only loses two seniors that had meaningful impact throughout the year. Losing Reese stinks because he’s a great kid and teammate, but he wasn’t a huge part of the success. Experience isn’t always key. Did experience help make free throws last night? No. Alabama is losing some experience and replacing it with elite talent. Elite talent gains experience too, so they will be back better.Add the opportunity missed and last night was a gut punch. Alabama had a senior lead team with the right mix of young talent. All the upsets set Alabama up to have one good 40 mins against the weakest 1 seed to get to its first Final Four.
I know many look at it as before the season the expectation was to just make the tournament, but given how the season had gone this is a huge disappointment IMO.
You are correct, in that, it only takes one bad game to lose, but if you think where you are seeded doesn’t matter than you haven’t been watching college BB. The 4 favorites in the next game to go to the final 4 are 3 one seeds, and a #2 seed. Higher seeded teams, historically, have been to many more final 4’s than lower seeded teams. We can get lucky, like in ‘04, with a team that has no real chance at winning a NC getting to the final 8(though that has happened ONCE in Bama BB history), but what good is that if you know your team is nowhere good enough to finish? In over 40 years of watching Bama BB how many times did we go 16-2 in the SEC, win the SEC tournament, and become a #2 seed? Twice, counting this year. The first time we lost to as hot a team as I have ever seen. Not our fault. Just terribly unlucky. If we had won, the Georgetown team we would have played next is MUCH more talented than Michigan’s team this season. Last night we played a team that is far from special, and played far from special. We beat ourselves, through a combination of things, but most of all as bad of FT shooting as I have ever witnessed in a BB game. That is not the coaches fault, nor because the other team was so great or had a special night. I keep hearing from some that we will be better next year? My papa used to always tell me you know if someone truly believes it if they put their $ where their mouth is. Well, get your pay pal account ready, because I will bet anyone on here we are not better than 16-2 in the SEC next year, and better than a #2 seed. I will even be nice enough to say we won’t match 16-2 and a #2 seed next year. People who really believe that need to get off their flying pink unicorns, put down the bottle, and PM me with any bet up to 6 figures. There is an extremely good chance that last night was a missed opportunity that happens only once a generation for Bama BB. I truly hope I am wrong, but I would put my $ where my mouth is.Michigan has looked dang good this tournament so I don’t know what you mean by that. Amen. We went farther than any of us expected on Jan 1.Just enjoy a very good basketball season. We over achieved, won an SEC championship and made the Sweet Sixteen. We got a great coach and alot of talent coming. This is just the start. RTR

Alabama can have more talent in years to come and never reach the Final Four. Being a CBB fan that I know you are, you know getting there is extremely difficult. That is why teams hang Final Four banners, just getting there is an accomplishment. You’ll look back at what you’re saying and say you’re overreacting in the moment. Harper does a great job but he is young. Has not seen half of what we have seen as long time Bama basketball fans.I watched Alabama play Indiana in 1976 and Alabama may have been the best team in the country.
