Just crunched the numbers for Coker and Hurts after their first three games. Coker was 51/92 for 628 yards, with 5 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. 55.4% completion percentage, and 6.83 yards per attempt. Hurts is 48/78 for 563 yards, with 4 touchdowns and 1 interception. 61.5% completion percentage, and 7.22 yards per attempt. Coker had 65 more passing yards, but also had 14 more attempts. Hurts' completion percentage, yards per attempt, and touchdown/interception ratio are all much better than Cokers. Hurts also has rushed for 197 yards and two touchdowns, while Coker had 50 yards rushing and 1 touchdown. Factoring in the rushing numbers, Hurts is accounting for 253 yards per game, while Coker was accounting for 226. The competition they faced is comparable, maybe even a little tougher for Hurts since I would say that Western Kentucky is much better than Middle Tennessee, and he faced Ole Miss on the road. USC and Wisconsin are roughly equal. Pretty impressive start for a true freshman.
