Many of the named basketball coaches in our search are coaching at schools where basketball is king. They field teams that are higher ranked in most cases than their football teams, and so the basketball coach tends to be the head man on campus. The Bear left Kentucky because, as good as his teams were, he was always second fiddle to Adolph Rupp. Could it be many basketball coaches would rather make less money at a school where they are top dog rather than at Alabama where they would always be second banana to Nick Saban?
