Our new hire is official, although he hasn't started yet:
Ben Jones has been hired as Tidesports.com editor. Jones, 25, will start in early July.
Jones replaces D.C. Reeves, who left for a position as sports director for BlabTV in his hometown of Pensacola, Fla.
Jones will be part of the Tidesports coverage team for University of Alabama football as well as having day-to-day site management responsibilities. He will also cover the Crimson Tide baseball beat.
Jones comes to Tidesports from Warchant.com, the Florida State site in the Rivals network. Jones has served as FSU football beat writer at Warchant since December of 2013. Previously, he worked at Catsillustrated.com, the Kentucky Wildcats site in the Rivals network, from 2011-13.
Jones, a University of Kentucky graduate, interned at the Indianapolis Star, the StarTribune in Minneapolis and the Commercial Appeal in Memphis.
