Alabama is set to lose its starting right tackle, as Elijah Pritchett announced on Saturday that he plans to enter the transfer portal. Pritchett started 12 games over 13 appearances this past season. The rising redshirt junior will have two years of eligibility at his next school.
Pritchett struggled in his first season as a starter this fall. According to Pro Football Focus, the 6-foot-6, 327-pound lineman led the team allowing 31 pressures and six sacks. He also ranked last among Alabama’s starting linemen with a 51.8 run-blocking mark.
Pritchett thought about transferring from Alabama during the 2023 season but elected to return for the 2024 campaign. The Columbus, Georgia native signed with the Tide as the top-rated offensive tackle and No. 22 overall player in the 2022 class.
Alabama is already losing its starting left guard, as Tyler Booker declared for the NFL draft. Pritchett is set to be Alabama’s second transfer departure from the offensive line, as Miles McVay left for North Carolina.
The Tide added four freshman signings on the offensive line in five-star talent Michael Carroll as well as four-stars Jackson Llyod Micah Debose and Mal Waldrep. Alabama also added Texas A&M transfer Kam Dewberry and Ball State transfer Arkel Anugwom from the portal.
With Pritchett gone, Alabama will likely turn to Wilkin Formby at the right tackle role.
