Game thread: Alabama vs. East Tennessee State

Shack has been held under double digits 1 time....yet @BaselineLeaner4 says hes regressed lmao. Balling out tonight. As oats said, he's been in a bit of a slump but smart enough to know he'll come out of it. NO SURPRISE

Shack hitting tonight. If we can get him consistently hitting and get Petty back hitting from outside we can win some games. Need these guys to hit shots and let Herb do his thing on defense.

Considering the posters wasn't asking for a play-by-play but more about how Herb was doing in general...

Lmao this is ridiculous. I've watched every sec game. They are incredibly down and very low scoring

  1. Ole Miss is a well coach, experienced team
  2. Tennessee is the hottest defensive team in the entire country
  3. Florida is strong again this year
  4. Then we go to both Auburn and Kentucky, places we do not win at
  5. Arkansas is undefeated
  6. We the go to LSU who is also ver talented
What about that is very easy??

Home court advantage has been nullified in most venues. This is the year for road wins.

These threads sure do shrink if we blow anyone out. Look, I get it. It ain’t pretty this year, but some of you are either ready to pounce on a player or the coach. I am disappointed that we aren’t blowing everyone out and dominating from the start. Maybe the rim will widen up after Shacks game. I feel like the poor shot selection was better tonight. Rebounding was better. Defense was adequate. I am still excited for the rest of the season.

Although I may piss and moan at times I am still confident in what Oats is trying to do and will still pull for the team. For me, and maybe others as well, it is hard to see their path to relevance even when looking to next season. I thought a lot of what held this team back last season exited the team with improved talent brought in. That hasn't exactly helped out a lot this year so far as Kira apparently meant more to this team than most of us realized. Some say they will be better when all of Avery's players are gone. Ok, well then we have a team next year loaded with youth and Inexperience and will almost assuredly have growing pains. I don't want to say this but maybe, just maybe we shouldn't expect more than 17-18 wins until 2022-23. A long freakin time to wait but no excuses at that point.

EASY WINS. theres a reason shaq played better in the sec last year versus ooc. Lack of talent in the sec. Our ppg will keep going up. you've been wrong about nearly everything. This is no different.

Yes I do. Still. My points remain. Funny thing is, you can't.

Can't what? That makes no sense relative to anything.

This team is nowhere near the same team as last year. We're missing a huge component in Kira who could blow by anyone, see the court, and create open looks for his teammates. We don't have anything close to that this year.

You lost all credibility by calling out a poster for his comments being "...racist" when you had no clue what a color commentator was. The stupidity in that alone tells me all I need to know. I already know you're going to try to say it was a joke, or that's not what you meant, so don't even try.

Kira was a prime reason we started 2-4. Did you not cringe when the game was in the final seconds and he had the ball? Instant turnover. And I won't try. I thought it was. Kira will be great in the NBA because he won't be the go to on the team.

Sure - there were plenty of turnover prone guys on the team last year, but Kira sure did a whole hell of a lot more positive things that severely outweighed any turnovers.

Kira could take the game over. None of the current guys can at this point. When your go-to guy a the end of a game (WKU) is Herb, that's not a good sign. This team will be lucky to sniff .500 in league play, and even that will be an accomplishment.

EASY WINS....lol ok buddy. What else have I been wrong about exactly?

We will be a few games over 500 at worst, easy.

What leads you to believe that other than one player's shooting statistic from last season?
The fact that at this moment we are a better basketball team. We actually have a center who is probably one of the smarter players in cbb. Gary's emergence and hard play has been great. Jq showed tonight exactly what oats said this week, that he has a better idea at what he is expected to do on offense. Primo will have good and bad games. Herb has been mediocre on defense even but looked to be more comfortable today. Keon Ellis is proving to be a good defensive option and has effort. Effort was a major problem and oats has proven this year that he will play who provides effort. Imo its a major improvement

I agree with a good bit of this. I am still believing this team has greatness in it. The players just need to figure out their roles. We do need a player who is the one to make the final shot. I am still hoping that turns out to be Petty.

We have Mount Everest to climb to achieve GREATNESS. We are an average basketball team right now.

I don’t disagree that we are average. Basketball is all about getting hot at the right time. There are only a few elite teams right now. If we figure out our shooting, we should start winning at a bigger clip. I do think components are there for this to be a good team that can make some noise.
