Game thread: Alabama vs. Providence

The 1 thing you can count on. When the game is getting together, herb decides he cannot dribble

With every foul we're stopping the clock, which works in their favor.

Good win tonight. Shot it well and showed some toughness. Good win to build on.
Agreed. Scored more on the last 2 teams than anyone else scored on them. 3-1 is something we can really build on. Play a good clemson team coming up

I know a lot of people on here won’t agree with me on this bc for some reason they look for things to be upset about...but this team has sweet 16 potential once they put everything together. Good performance tonight but still a TON of room for improvement. The ceiling this team has is really high. Consistency is going to be key from here on out. If we can consistently score in the 80’s (not difficult at all considering the talent) and consistently give good effort on defense/rebounding, this will be a very difficult team to beat. I know a lot of folks won’t agree but that’s just my take. Been really excited about this team after seeing the roster the coaches put together.

Huge win...that Stanford game was brutal but I really liked the team’s demeanor after this game. You can tell they’re feeling good and positive going forward. Going 2-1 is a huge win for this tourney

i agree with you. we got some things to clean up, dont look like coach oats cares about jones and shack driving into a crowd.

Great to see the effort and playing and shooting under control. They finally finished a game and you could tell they were happy about it.
Great job Nate and all.
Providence picked third in their conference.

The team being plus 20 on the boards with no one getting more than 8 boards (Herb 8, Bruner 7) tells you about the energy level and effort given overall.

Going forward if Bama is in plus territory on possessions, then I agree they will be tough to beat most evenings, but the key is to start with doing the dirty work, then let the chips fall where they may.

I wasn't able to watch tonight, but sounds like we played pretty well. Let's keep it rolling.

Solid first half. Rebounding much improved and I like them taking ball to basket instead of taking only 3’s.
See- I can be complimentary when deserved.

Agreed 100%. I’ll compliment good basketball all night. And tonight the team showed energy and they wanted a to win.

We play well and Providence will likely be a tourney team.

Could you imagine if we had a guy like #0 from Providence on this team? I always wonder how these mid majors teams find these grown ass big men. Ours always looks underdeveloped in comparison haha
I was thinking the same thing , our front court looks frail compared to all these other teams I have looked at recently

Giving credit where it's due here. Didn't check the board last night bc I went out to dinner and recorded the game and watched later. Down 8-0 I was wondering what the heck was going on, but the guys battled back and played hard. Primo earned himself some more PT for sure. Hope the guys rest up and stay Rona free. Great win.

My 3 favorite stat lines from the game:

1) We out rebounded them 48-28. That's indicative of the great effort that we played with.
2) 33 of our 62 field goal attempts were two pointers. That's a result of the best ball movement we've had all year, attacking the basket instead of settling for 3's, and getting out in transition after rebounds.
3) 5 players scored in double figures. Hopefully that will become the norm going forward, as we have multiple guys capable of leading us in scoring on any given night.
