We are out hussling them all over the floor... getting steals, offensive boards. One team is on fire and the other isn’t.
If we can hold them to 30 in the 2nd half I think we can win. As long as we make our free throws. The 3s will come, never stop shooting. But we need to run some sets to get guys open looks to get in a rhythm. Then we can run. Too much one on one crap. Petty needs to man up and own it that he just cant handle the ball. Needs to stay outside. Brunner needs to sit. Love him but hes too slow and we need lock down D im the 2nd half. Need Reese to hit a couple 3s, need Shack to play some defense. Ellis and Quinerly cant win this thing by themselves.
Poor coaching on coach oats behalf he disrupted our rhythm by bringing herb jones back in the game. Jones couldn’t play aggressive because of his foul trouble and it allowed UCLA to get a rhythm going all while gaining the full momentum of the game. We were up by a few Possessions when oats brought him back in the game and the rest is what it is
Need Herb for defense. If he fouls out he fouls out.
I love how this guy has criticized me all year for saying Oats have no idea when to use a TO and it drives me crazy.
But every single game he basically says Oats is an idiot for playing the players that Oats believe will give Bama the best chance to win.
Ill say it again need to run some sets to get some open looks. Oats is a good Xs n Os coach needs to show it and get our guys in a rhythm from deep.
Its actually that simple. Coming up empty on those 3 one and ones was killer.
One on one is a huge part of what brought us here. That’s pretty much all we do in the half court.
I’m not convinced we “need” him for defense. He obviously helps on defense. But Petty can guard. Ellis can. Primo can. Shack can. Seems like they went on their run when Herb came back in.

Tough to beat a team that is shooting almost 50% from 3 pt land, and we are not shooting it well. Throw in the free throw differential, and you get to where we are at at the HT. We just ran into a team that is shooting the ball really well. Again, deja vue from the 80’s.
We generally move / pass the ball around much quicker than we have tonight IMO only. Just me.
Really bad free throw shooting, too many turnovers and them shooting 7/15 from 3. We’ve been down by more than this before and come back. Just gotta settle down and play our game. Wouldn’t mind seeing some more drive and kick 3’s in the second half. And goes without saying that we have to make our free throws.
We usually just stand around with no player movement, like a zone offense and just try to drive and kick. I’m guessing we haven’t shot it quick enough tonight for Oats. UCLA has slowed us down. And we just aren’t great in the half court.
Wimp never made it past the Sweet 16; maybe Oats should have ditched the plaid for this game...
If Shack, Petty and Herb play like this...it doesn’t matter what UCLA does, they’ll win. Are we even trying to win with JQ not starting the half?
Never have been able to understand why Petty is soo bad at dribbling the ball. That's the main thing that will keep him from any shot at the next level. But I'm glad he can hit from 3.
I’d like to telegraph to him...that’s about all he can do. A contested 3 is better than just about any drive for him.
Petty hitting a three is a good sign. Just play tough D and the shots will come.

No not really, too many of our players are trying to create their own shot. We are usually deadly when we spot up and shoot off the drive, not when we dribble and try to create a shot.
