A lot of quotes from former players and their families about how stupid partial scholarships are and how The UofA sabotages non-head count sports with ridiculously high out of state tuition costs.

I don't agree with their implying that Alabama having a lottery with fix the situation. The only fix IMO is the NCAA changing the system to something more like football or basketball. Conversely they could also cop out and demand that all forms of scholarship assistance count against the 11.7 so every school has the same limitations.

I do agree the state needs to get some form of a lottery. If nothing else is gained, it would still help an already cash strapped state to not piss half a billion bucks into other states because a few backwoods pubs in the legislature are too eager to poison pill any sensible legislation on the matter. I just don't think our politicians will allow the income to be anything more than a general fund booster and maybe more money for the lower education lobby to piss away. The last bill they ended up not doing anything with started out in a good place before adding in far too much for the average Alabama voter to stomach. It's one thing to ask them to vote on lottery but another entirely to go from its all illegal to full on Vegas gambling from casinos to sports betting with the lottery along for the ride.
