I think placing Tua’s time at Alabama into historical context has been hard for some of us fans. You can see the talent and the “what if’s” will always be there. It Ryan Clark said this about Mahomes and I paraphrase, “Mahomes is the best thrower of the football we have ever seen in the NFL”. He goes on to say “he is not the greatest QB because that title comes with accomplishments”.
Tua is the same, he’s not the greatest Alabama QB, AJ still ranks higher for sure because of his accomplishments at Alabama. But no one ever threw the ball better than Tua. There is no question in my mind that much of his stats was helped by having the best WR group I have ever seen put together, but his ability to get them the ball in stride were they can take a 7yd pass 70yds to the house is unmatched.
