How much longer does coach stay

Agree there is a shadow hanging over the program. Hind sight is 20/20 was it all worth it?

Miller was never the same after the South Carolina game, the spotlight was blazing hot.

It may take time to get this bad taste out of the mouth (Alabama Basketball) The couple seasons will be telling.

The only shadow hanging over the program was cast by idiots in the media who ran with their agendas with total disregards for facts.

There is a bad taste in our mouths, but it's simply because of the premature and disappointing end to the season.
I've been following Alabama basketball for over 50 years, and it's the most gut wrenching end to a season in that span IMO.

Oats now has to replace 3 quality assistants. Those hires will be crucial to the future trajectory of our program.

This ^^^
If a HC bolts everytime he/she faces adversity, then maybe they are in the wrong profession. The UA upped the ante by giving him a sizeable raise and the promise of a new facility. Oats has given us a taste of what he can do, now it's time to put a new team and staff together and FINISH!

Miller was pretty damn good in the SEC tournament averaging 20 PPG…. He injured his groin. Clearly had an impact in the NCAA tournament

Let’s just face the facts here guys: the Alabama administration badly mishandled this event from a public relations stand point- it was rank amateur hour.
They knew Miller and Bradley were present/ should have gotten out ahead of the story but did not. Comes out a month later. Not good.

Rank and amateurish

The UA PR dept gets a failing grade. The AD / bball staff should have curbed the TSA pregame pat down etc.

That came out as the story was settling.

The facts should have been presented ahead of the court date.

Time to move forward…..

athough Oats will still be forced to mutter a few “mea culpas” in the foreseeable future.

The future is still very, very bright

That’s a good point.

The groin didn’t make him mishandle the ball or make poor passes. That’s was more mental than physical. His turnovers were so costly in that game where SDSu made their run.

I do see it hurting your lift in shots. Then again he had one of the best blocks of the tournament against the Aztecs !!

Houston’s guard overcame the same injury

So by you laughing means you think the administration handled everything correctly? I can assure you they would do it differently if they had the chance.

Again, the AD and athletic department couldn’t say anything because it was an ongoing investigation. They’re not allowed to speak on it.
Yep. I am sure in hindsight a lot of us could of handled things a little better when under unexpected difficult circumstances, but have NO DOUBTS that NO MATTER how the situation was handled, Bama and Oats were going to be lambasted by the press. There was no way that was not happening. It is just what most of them do.

I believe that the City of Tuscaloosa and/or the judicial system could have have done a better job of releasing information that would not jeopardize the investigation. I believe Alabama’s administration did what they were required to do by the legal system. JMO.

So he scored 20 per game when the injury was probably at his worst. Then after much more test and therapy, it bothered him more?

I wonder if all this off the court may have done damage long term and he feels sort of feels administration may have put him in a bad light the way they handled it.

And his revenge is to find head coaching jobs for all his assistants while encouraging the whole team to enter the draft or transfer.
Oats is so masterful he picks up a transfer to throw the admin off.
He has a few more moves and then he'll be gone.
Two and half days before mankind ends they will break ground on a new basketball arena.

It is what it is.

Realize this is tongue in cheek/ but your last comment about the arena is pretty accurate. Should have been built 10 years ago.

It was my understanding he got hurt during the aTm game, so I’m assuming he played the majority of the SECT healthy.

You may be right. I thought someone said it was during practice leading up to the SEC tournament.

I knew Miller was there! I know no body and live in the Tennessee boonies. All I did was read all the reports I could find the first day or two and it could be figured out. you just have to watch a lot of TV detective shows.

Vacation in Europe. I couldn't wait to get back and enjoy your pessimism. You miserable human.
I do not live in LA LA land like some. Basketball program has lost 3 assistant coaches, 4 have declared for the NBA draft and 2 are transferring. Not the best couple of weeks since the best chance to make a Final Four went up in smoke.
You should have extended your stay abroad. Nothing miserable about me except some of the people that just stick head in sand.
Carry on Ole One of Little Vision.

You are a miserable, pessimistic, bore of a person. Everyone here knows that. Your life is clearly one that is lacking.

CONCERNING MILLER, Charles Barkley said it best, Your Best player had got to be your Best player and Miller regardless simply did not be our best player in the tournament down the stretch.

If you wanted to count down the seconds to the end of the story about the shooting? You could count down the seconds of our final game in the sweet16. Anyone heard anything about this story since the Tide was eliminated? Ok where did the story go? It’s about Oats putting together a staff of new ideals, and one that can recruit. It’s takes Alabama opening up the budget to get these assistants. It’s not about building a chicken Coop like Auburn. It’s about winning and a excited fan base that will sell out the 15000 seat Coleman airplane hanger.

Our best game in the tournament was when Miller scored “0” points but we were about to put 75 points on the board.

So you think we should have half ass coaches and players that nobody wants and you'll be okay with that?

I think the AD did a great job of handling a on going investigation. Most people knew that once Alabama was eliminated from the tournament the story would die. I handled the story by not listening to Paul Finebaum. Oats had a young team this year. I think he did a great job of holding this team together.

I’m going to trust CNO to secure the right coaches. As for the players, we started 4 new players for most of the season last year. Based on our success, replacing players should not be all that difficult. We may not be a top five team but top 25 is certainly doable.

I wasn't a month later, and everybody already knew where you would stand on this and all other issues relating to the basketball program.

Alabama administration handle this unfortunate story the best way they could given this was an undoing investigation. The story was bullshit from the beginning simply because Alabama had the appearance as the best team in college basketball. If I’m wrong then why did the story die once we lost to San Diego? If you can’t answer the question then stop with all of these Paul Finebaum sound bites.
