BamaInsider is looking to bring the discussion surrounding Alabama football to the fans. During our new daily feature, we’ll be tackling a question concerning the Crimson Tide while also allowing you the fans to give your take.
We’re finally here. Alabama will open its season tomorrow when it faces Duke at 2:30 p.m. CT inside Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The Crimson Tide opened up as a 30.5-point favorite and has seen that line rise up to 35 points, according to VegasInsider.com.
Alabama has won its last 17 season-openers, with its last loss coming against UCLA to start the 2001 season. During that span, the Crimson Tide has outscored its opponent 664-223. The streak is the second-highest in the nation as Ohio State has currently won 19 straight openers. Nick Saban is 21-4 in his previous openers as a head coach, including a perfect 12-0 record with the Crimson Tide.
Today's Question — How will Saturday’s game play out?
Kyle Henderson: Alabama sends a message on the first drive of the game with a powerful and quick offensive strike. The rest is up to the defense. The Crimson Tide rolls 45-10, allowing a field goal late in the game. Tua Tagovailoa throws for 225-yards with three touchdowns and Najee Harris and Brian Robinson combine for 150 all-purpose yards.
Tony Tsoukalas: Despite all the adversity Alabama has faced heading into the game, the matchup itself shouldn’t be too much of a challenge. Alabama’s offense should be able to score against a Duke defense that gave up 27.4 points and 408.8 yards of total offense per game last season. Despite being young up the middle, the Crimson Tide’s defense should also be able to limit Duke’s offense as the Blue Devils look to cope without NFL first-rounder Daniel Jones at quarterback. Alabama 47-10.
