Joshua Primo Selected 12th

Good decision after all for Primo. Can't turn down the kind of money that you get from being drafted that high. It was a gamble at first as not many thought he could scratch the first round or at best he might snag a late 1st round future investment luxury pick but he apparently had about as good of a combine as possible.

I know we're not in UK's range with Cal there but we have to be pretty high in the SEC for the last 3 or 4 drafts. At least in as much as early 1st round picks go. Starting to feel like the early 90s again for Bama BBall. That can only help with recruiting. Our luck may run out on one and done types being ready for the draft but putting 3 guards in the NBA first round in a 4 year window has to make a very good impression on recruits.

Everybody was shocked, except the Spurs. But people on here knew he was in the lottery. He may turn into a superstar but they were reaching at 12.

I am going to eat crow…they are saying Herbert is now the 9th best pick available. I didn’t think he would get drafted.

I think he could be really valuable to a good team in the right spot. Obviously he can defend. But he won’t have to play the point wherever he goes now. He probably won’t have to handle it at all. I think the best thing he does on offense is catch and shoot open threes but he didn’t do that a lot for Bama. If he can just do that on offense, he will make a lot of money.

Primo was imo drafted on potential vs what he has done ... which is not unusual especially in the NBA.

I was confident last year Herb would get drafted because he likes to play defense and is good at it.

What is pay scale for 12th pick in the first round?
I think the first round sign 2 year contracts with team options for the 3rd and 4th year.
His 2 year deal is estimated at $8,091,120.

Attached is how it played out last year ...
