Last two games he has started both halves and not come back in after the first media timeout. Yesterday he played 6 minutes. Cannot understand that one. We need him to be playing 20-25 minutes per game. He’s an absolute beast defensively and picks up more trash points than anyone on our team.

He started the 2nd half. Not sure why he’d sit almost the entire first half injured then start the 2nd half.
That makes a little more sense for the first half but not the second. Same thing has happened multiple times this year
I’m not sure. He’s a great rebounder and defender but has been an awful shooter the past month or so. Lineups when they go with JQ-JD-Shack backcourt they like to put Ellis and Gurley in the front court
That group of 5 is pretty small, but should be Bama's best shooting squad and they are athletic...IMO should be Bama's most dangerous squad.
Yeah he’s definitely not a good outside shooter… but he’s still a good scorer. He just provides too much to be playing 6 minutes in a game like yesterday
Who is a good shooter that takes his minutes? Nobody right now. But he’s better on D. He rebounds. He gets extra possessions offensive rebounding and just hustling. If he doesn’t play bc he’s not a good shooter, then nobody should take his spot.
Gary is the prototype 3 and D wing / stretch 4 in the modern game…he’s athletic, brings the energy, but unfortunately he hasn’t learned how to shoot.
Gurley hasn’t shot well, but has a track record of being able to shoot, plus he is a bit better defender at the rim, and IMO Bama needs him to play well to reach their potential since the other bigs are basically non factors outside of the paint.
I just think it is hard for good teams to play big minutes to a 6-6 forward that can’t shoot…energy minutes, change of pace, those are fine, but if you have to play that guy 30min/gm then you have a problem.
Gary isn’t a 3 and D wing. He isn’t a wing and sure can’t shoot. I’m not sure what Gurley can do that Gary can’t if Gurley isn’t going to make 3’s. We need Gurley to make 3’s. And You may be right about Gurley being a better defender at the rim but I don’t agree with that. If I need a stop made around the rim, I’m taking Gary 100% of the time over Gurley.
Gurley can be a skilled back to the basket big and is historically a better shooter as well. But, Gary is just one of those guys who has an uncanny ability to find the ball and has nice touch around the basket. He’s gotta play more

I believe Gary took a hard fall early in 2nd half. He continued to play for a short time. That may have been the reason.
Agreed. I would restrict Gary's outside shooting until he learns how (preferably at practice). As you stated, he is good around the basket and that would be his realm. Gurly isn't afraid to shoot but is inconsistent...JD can score but doesn't shoot enough. He's a better finisher at the rim than Shack. JQ has shown on multiple occasions that he is not the one to take last second shots (from the floor or FT line). He has flubbed more than a few, but when he's on, he's hell on wheels.
I was as excited about Gurley as any Bama fan in the country was because I watched him hang around 15 points on us in 2020 and he just looked like an athletic dude getting up and down the court. He has been showing signs of life as of late and I expect him to be a big contributor down the stretch if we are going to make any type of deep run in the dance.

Sorry, but Gurley is not an inconsistent shooter. For the most part, he has been very consistent this year. Consistently bad. Bad, not just from the 3 pt line, but also really bad from the FT line. Maybe something will just click, and he will start to look like the player we all hoped we would be, but, as a shooter, that has yet to happen.
Gurley was not afraid to take the final shot. The others looked like they didn't want any part of it. I am glad he is on the team and I think he is figuring himself out.

I was SHOCKED when he hit one versus the pigs. He almost shattered a backboard at Oxford with a 3 ball.
I wish so much that JD would play with the aggression and confidence that Rojas does with the ball in his hands lol. Rojas attacks like a 23ppg scorer and just can’t score worth shit. If he drives it’s a charge, if he shoots he misses… but he does plenty of both
Gary played 8 minutes tonight. I don’t have to understand but I sure don’t.
Came in and played hard too… got an offensive board and put back through traffic.
