For anyone that is shocked by the developments, the movie "The Blindside" was always a Fairy Tale, a nice heart warming story, but a fairy tale none the less. Probably the only thing that was true about the story was Oher's childhood, his size, the fact that he was heavily recruited, the NCAA investigated Ole Miss, and that she though fondly of Nick Saban.
Let's get a few things straight about the story:
Briarcrest is a private school. There is no way that Michael Oher got into that place, unless it was to play football. It was Hugh Freeze that arranged for Michael Oher to attend Briarcrest. Freeze just needed a place for Michael to stay.
The Touhy's were and will always be two of the biggest boosters at Ole Miss.
Hugh Freeze was the High School Coach at Briarcrest. I can guarantee you that the High School Coach knew all about recruiting, talent and Michael Oher's ability. How does one think Michael Oher got to that private school. Hugh Freeze went to Ole Miss with Michael Oher.
Ed Orgeron was the college coach at Ole Miss.
The only surprise in the story is that Michael Oher is that betwwen Hugh Freeze and the Touhy's that Michael Oher even thought about anywhere else. If Phat Phil had offered Freeze more money Oher would have been at Tennessee.
