--Regardless of how many stars a recruit/player had, the object of the game is to MAKE YOUR OPPONENT SEE STARS! That definitely didn’t happen in far too many cases.

--Why? Clemson had 26 Seniors [30% of their roster] with 72% of their roster returning lettermen! Definitely different level of maturity than Bama.

--Those Clemson Seniors are grown men physically and mentally [22 & 23 years old] after being in strength & conditioning for an extended time, and exposed to more adversity compared to our far too many younger players.

--Bama lost 12 players off of the 2017 Defense to the NFL! Tony B, Hootie, Hand, Harrison, Hamilton, Averette, Minkah, Evans, Wallace, Frazier, King & Payne. Definitely a lot of leadership lost!

--Along with inexperienced starters, factor in 3 DBs and 3 LB [edge rushers] injured and out for the year or CFP, plus there was already an overall lack of depth to go with the inexperience.

--Throw in four new Defensive coaches and Tosh being a 1st year Coordinator with a young inexperienced team and as the going got tougher, many players and coaches looked confused. Players often looked like a blind dog in a butcher shop. Bama D has always been our trademark.

--At the CFP Final Bama player answering a question concerning what NFL team do you think Bama can beat? Soph OL who graded out at 53% in the Clemson game, answered he thought Bama could beat the Arizona Cardinals. WRONG!

--Madden Game video setup for players at the CFP Finals to occupy their time. Too many young players who had defeated Clemson on the Madden video game saw Clemson as no problem for them - we are too good. Resting on laurels. [MY BAD - STRIKE THIS ONE OUT]

--Several players stating that Clemson’s Renfrow had to be stopped – which they did - 2 catches 10 yards. Emphasis on the wrong player.

--Immaturity, lack of cohesiveness, overconfident and lack of depth were the main contributing factors for the loss - plus they were playing grown men that had a purpose and a plan to knock the snot out of Bama.

--And paraphrasing Yogi Berra’s quote “Baseball [Football] is 90 per cent mental. The other half is physical” could be applied to the CFP and that may be the main contributing factor.
