There is something about this team that concerns me more than the missed three point shooting. This team is extremely careless with the basketball and doesn't seem to be concentrating at the foul line. We have extremely good shooters missing to many foul shots. Last night I saw players dribbling the ball in an uncontrolled fashion. This bit about just tossing the ball at the basket from inside four feet is disturbing. How do you short arm a ball from within four feet of the basket.

Our season is about to get tough quick, so we have limited time to grow up.

On a positive note, we have to figure out how to get Gary, Ellis, and Primo more playing time. Gary knows what to do inside of four feet. Ellis can play defense and Primo will grow into a great one.

It may be chemistry, but at least turnovers are down from last year. Turnovers are going to be higher with the faster pace of the game, but I feel like there are still a few turnovers that are silly every game. I still think they will get it together. I hope anyways.

I blame Petty and Quinerly..Two of our most talented offensive guys do not play aggressive enough on offense to be the best that they can be. They can make the offense stagnant and force Herb or Shack to say screw it, I'll just take it myself because nobody is working to get open or doing what it takes to get anyone else open.

Btw, we have a terrible tiam with tons of talent.

I can see them getting better chemistry as of late but they are still learning the other players around them. I think we will keep progressing through the SEC schedule. It's just the question of how quick they can do it.

Wimp never played more than 8. Not saying 8 is all can play but playing 12 regularly doesn't seem to allow for much chemistry.
I agree. It’s tough to make rotation decisions and I don’t even necessarily know who it should be... but I have always said playing 10 or more is no good. Gotta get to an 8 man rotation and roll with it

I think it’s a combination of a few things. Main one being most fans, me included, didn’t realize just how much of the offense ran through Kira. We relied HEAVILY on that dude to break down the defense, get into the lane and either finish or kick it to an open shooter. That’s one thing JQ needs to do more of. Petty and Shack are so good when they’re just catching and shooting. Not as good when they have to put the ball on the floor to create offense. I really think the main issue with our poor shooting is mental. We saw it with Shack the other night, he saw a couple go through the net and he was a different player from then on. If guys can get a more defined role on the team, I think the offense and defense will flow much better. Seems like a lot of guys are just pressing right now.

One other thing I’ve noticed is how quick Oats is to yank a guy off the floor as soon as he makes a mistake. Granted I’m not at practice or in the huddle during timeouts so I don’t know if the mistakes are things that are covered over and over but if guys are subbed out after one mistake then that could be one reason the team seems to be playing tentatively. Could be wrong, just my observation.

Don't read anything into that matter. Some coaches, especially of running teams will substitute at every dead ball opportunity. It gives the players remaining on the Court a few additional seconds to catch their breath and it keeps the players fresher, so they can run harder at the end of the game.

I think we overestimated our new guys (they are good but not all necessarily blue bloods and most of them are works in progress) and underestimated the difficulty of integrating them into the program. We are likely a tournament team but the idea that we are a Final Four or even Sweet Sixteen team is unsupported by facts. No reason not to dream though.

I never expected much at all from Bruner. I thought Ellis would be a stud... he’s been underwhelming. I though Q would be a slight downgrade from Kira but I thought he’d be better than he has been aside from last night.

We still have a long time for them to get the chemistry down and hopefully that will be sooner than too late.

I know we typically agree on most things, but definitely disagree regarding Ellis. He's be great on the defensive end and gives 110% when he's in. Had a few key assists last night and is really starting to look more comfortable. Really excited to see his game develop.

Totally agree on his effort and his effectiveness on Defense. I just meant I expected him to be a primary scorer... 15 points a game. He’s just not that player.
