— Saban began his press conference by calling the media soft for being inside in the air conditioning. He turned down the invitation for reporters to be outside during practice though.

— Saban: "We have to increase the level of attention to detail, focus on every play so we can play and not have penalties and missed assignments."

— This was Alabama's first practice in full pads.

— Saban said he looks at Terrence Ferguson as a starter on this team. He said Alabama has six or seven starters on the offensive line. Ferguson has worked at both guard and center this fall.

— Saban said James Burnip has become more consistent at punter heading into his third season with the program.

— Saban said there is a competition at LT between Elijah Pritchett and Kadyn Proctor. He said he's looking at the duo to do the little things right.

"I really like the attitude and maturity of the offensive line and the leadership that we have at the position. Those guys are going to be pretty demanding."

— Saban on center Seth McLaughlin: I don't think anybody's going to go wrong hiring him, I don't care what he does. He's got the right stuff.
