Alabama notes

— Freshman Collin Sexton went for a game-high 25 points in the win over the Hokies. In doing so, he became the eighth player in program history to score 600 points in a single season (currently has 615). It was also his fourth consecutive game of scoring 20 or more points. Over the stretch, Sexton is averaging 26.0 ppg, while shooting 53.3 percent (32-of-60) from the field and 50.0 percent (11-of-22) from deep.

— The last time Alabama played a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament came in 2004. In that contest, the Crimson Tide downed Stanford, 70-67, on March 20, 2004 on its way to an Elite 8 appearance. Current assistant coach Antoine Pettway was a member on the Crimson Tide's team that season.

— The Tide owns a record of 6-2 when playing a top-25 opponent this season, which is tied for tops in the nation. The ranked opponents Alabama has defeated during the season (all ranking at time of the game) include: No. 5 Texas A&M (12/30), No. 17 Auburn (1/17), No. 12 Oklahoma (1/27), at No. 23 Florida (2/3), No. 15 Tennessee (2/10) and vs. No. 16 Auburn (3/9).

Villanova notes

— With the 87-61 win over Radford, VU improved to 18-0 when holding opponents at or below the 70-point threshold. It has now done this in four consecutive games.

— Villanova connected on 14-of-27 3-point attempts (.519) in its NCAA First Round win over Radford. It marked the 20th time in 35 games that the Wildcats have converted a dozen or more from beyond the 3-point arc in a game in 2017-18.

— Villanova became just the sixth NCAA Division I school to register 400 or more made 3-point field goals in a season Thursday. The Wildcats enter this game with 402 in 2017-18. The all-time season record is 442, set by VMI in 2007.
