Knee jerking and overreacting to everything, but there is as much desperation in college basketball as there is in college football. I think we have long wanted to win the race and get a college basketball championship.

That said, what Coach Oats and this Bama team has done up to now has naturally drawn the attention of many people. I hear a lot of the Kentucky fans that want Cal to “retire” and naturally Kentucky thinks they have every right to our coach.

It is comical to me because for whatever reason Kentucky won’t go after Pearl. Their fans would never dare insinuate they would have gone after Billy Donavan when he was at Florida.

Bama has a major winning tradition in college basketball. We just haven’t shown it in a good while. We are the home team and have Coach Oats ear. In other words, we have the advantage because he is here. Getting the right coach is very hard. Getting the right coach that plays an exciting brand of basketball is even more difficult. I hope the administration is not asleep at the wheel on Oats. Some things are clear and this one certainly is. Hope we do all we can to keep him and right now, not later is the time to ward off the other teams. The schools that successfully do so are always ahead of the game before things snowball.

Just my .02. Thanks for the rant!
