At some point the NCAA is going to have to deal with the 5,000 lb elephant in the room called Notre Dame. They are able to slide by without being in a conference and basically do what they want while the entire college football world acts like they don't see it. If any other college tried this they would be ceremoniously shredded 4 ways from Sunday.
The playoffs are a lot like taxes in this country. They way they are now is a mess when they could be so simple. The playoffs need to bring back a BCS style of scoring, based on multiple important factors, and then we wouldn't have to worry about so many who, why, what, and the human factor. The computers unbiasedly do it for us and then go to 8 team format. Its the smartest and simplest thing to do. The faster we do this, the better it will become...............We'll see 8 teams faster than we see a BSC formula again. The powers that be are going to be hard-pressed to give up control of who they allow to get in. That's what the "control committee" was all about. Limiting SEC teams.
