Yall need to ease off of Oats. Yes its his players and hes the coach so he deserves some of the blame. But you cant coach poor effort and having some guys that are mental midgets. Oats will be the first to tell you that his system wont work if you cant play defense.

Last year we had a couple of seniors that were dogs on defense and a guy Herb that could shut down the other teams best scor3r. Last night the dude was guarding Ja Morant. As a rookie. Q was also able to come off the bench with less pressure and Shack only had to worry about making shots.

Next year we have some 2 ways guys coming in thats going to help, plus JD and Bediako have consistently improved as the season has went on. So yall can complain about Oats all you want but hes got our program in the national spot light. Hes pulled not 1 but 2 mcdonalds all americans in the class coming in. Consistancy takes time.

Effort was incredible tonight. I agree with your post though. This team just lost the IT factor. It’s a weird thing that’s hard to explain but we just tend to make the wrong play in those few critical moments of games

We seem to have underestimated herb and petty and their value. I did. And Reese. We are a sad shell of our former self.

they got to have somebody to blame.

Yea all involved are at fault imo. Ellis, Shack, and Q just haven’t quite been the players on a consistent basis that this team needed them to be. Oats hasn’t made adjustments, especially defensively, nor has he figured out his best group of 5 players in 5 months of basketball, which can also be put back on the players being that damn inconsistent, we blew games bc of effort, we blew games bc of stupidity, we blew games bc of awful defense, we blew games bc of awful shooting, awful turnovers, etc etc etc. it’s just been a cluster **** with extreme bright spots mixed in. Frankly when you really look at it, the inexplicable thing about this team IS THE WINS

Bediako is the only one who has shown consistent improvement. JD hasn't improved one bit on defense. He looked just as lost last night as he did in the beginning of the season.

It is amazing that for a team that ranks in the 300's for defense, turnovers, and 3 PT% how we can actually be a tournament team that's not even on the bubble. Bottom line is this is not a very good basketball team, and for that I blame Oats because he's the one that put this team together.

For as much as I appreciate his effort, I swear Rojas chose the wrong sport. Seems he'd be better suited on a football field, but he just doesn't look like basketball comes natural to him. Gurley gives effort on the defensive end, but really doesn't give you much on the offensive end. Why he and Rojas were ever told they can shoot the 3 is beyond me. I'm actually shocked that Gurley was invited back for next season.

JD was probably the biggest disappointment for me, but perhaps we were expecting too much from a freshman coming from the lowest levels of high school competition. At the very least I would have hoped given his athleticism he would have been a huge asset on the defensive end, but even last night in the 33rd game of the season he constantly got lost on defense basically just standing there wondering who he should guard and then lazily closing out on the 3 point shooter.

For me Bediako was the lone bright spot. I thought he was the only player that showed significant improvement from the 1st game to the 33rd. With some time in the weight room I think he can be a true force next year.

Going into last night I thought we had 2 or 3 games tops left in the season, and after last night I'm leaning towards 2, which means we're probably one and done in the tournament.
