In some respects, I thought the play calling was much better last night. There were really no ill-timed razzle dazzle plays that killed drives and momentum. Overall, I didn't find myself screaming "what the f*** are you doing" at the tv as often as I had recently with Kiffin.
However, one thing that was really frustrating was that we never opened the playbook up. I was fine with a very conservative gameplan while we were in control of the game. Once Clemson starting gaining offensive momemtum and our defense was on its heels, I dont know why we didnt at least TRY some things over the middle.
I realize Jalen is a horrible passer right now, and we're trying to protect him from the big mistake but there is no tomorrow in a championship game. You can't leave bullets in your gun. I would rather at least try some riskier things and go down swinging on a bad throw than not do anything and slowly watch the other team just take the game from you.
