This was a closer game than anticipated, but 19 turnovers and 11 missed free throws will do that. Pair those with Rutgers having the best freshman duo since Zion and RJ and it was a very close game throughout.
The officiating was less than stellar with all the whistles and free throws, but give Alabama credit, they fought through and got a win they needed. Mark Sears had his best shooting game of the season, Grant Nelson played well, and I thought this was Derrick Reid’s overall best game. Alabama obviously has to clean up the turnovers, but playing a game after such a high emotional game in Houston the night before is very tough to come back from.
Rutgers is not a very good team, but when you have those two freshmen, there will be games they’ll be very tough and beat teams they shouldn’t. Their supporting cast is just not good.
Alabama will look to win 500k in NIL, on top of the 1 million they got to play in the tournament, on Saturday against Oregon in the championship.
Happy Thanksgiving!!
