Well, it wasn’t a pretty game from a flow perspective, but Alabama has shown they can win in a variety of ways this year. They can win an up tempo game and win a muddied up game as well. In a game that featured 88 free throws and nearly 60 fouls, Alabama hit 9 more threes and dominated the boards against the #1 rebounding team in the country.
The additions of Cliff Omoruyi and Chris Youngblood proved huge yesterday in the physicality aspect, as they didn’t have that last season. Aden Holloway, Labaron Philon, and Mark Sears is as good of a backcourt combo as there is in the country, but you add in a healthy Chris Youngblood and it’s a scary good combination. You have to respect every level of the court on defense against this team and it’s incredibly hard to defend.
Last years team likely loses this game by double digits, but this team is so much deeper and more physical. They handled A&M’s run well, aided by fouls and turnovers, but the composure and maturity was evident.
