Was listening to a podcast earlier today where some former players were talking about the defense and heard something interesting from Reub. He said when CJP was the defensive coordinator, he remembers multiple games where the defense ran 1 or 2 plays all game. So they would just line up and run this same defensive play over and over the entire game. I'm guessing they'd flip the play based on offensive line up and what not but this allowed them to play fast obviously. Compare that to now when players are waiting for the call to come in then communicate it then get lined up then make any corrections then hopefully be in the right spot... It doesn't take much imagination to assume CJPs players also had a few quick reads to make in-play in order to attack the ballcarrier and CPGs players are likely thinking about 40 different things before taking a gap.

I knew Pruitts defense was stripped and simplified so they could play fast but man I didn't know it was like that. Makes sense.

Thoughts?
