I have o problem hanging our hat on the run. Have the talent for that. At least the overweight line-as myself and others have stated-has a chance. One of big problems with pass pro is our heavies are too slow and not good enough feet to deal with a quick DLineman. (How many have mentioned hurries?)
Back to the run. If this is our emphasis as we say, good. But the pass has to compliment and work off the run. VS Texas, 75% of the time, we ran on 1&2 downs, threw on third. Our party constantly mentioned this and suggested play action on first or second Down. This is what teams do to integrate the scheme. We actually tried this some in second half with success but also failed to execute when open. Texas Dline simply pinned ears back and teed off on us. Cannot do that if different schemes are utilized such as counters, misdirection, etc.
Run has to have some imagination. Do not remember one counter, misdirection unless back got bounced, overload as we did vs MTSU, etc. Terrible play calling And scheme. TE should be featured in this scheme. Apparently not.
Just some thoughts on the running game.
