TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama basketball head coach Avery Johnson wouldn’t say much Friday about the FBI investigation in college basketball that involves his star point guard Collin Sexton.

The only thing he knows for certain is that he expects Sexton to play during the Crimson Tide’s game against Arkansas on Saturday at 5 p.m. CT on SEC Network.

"Yes," Johnson said when asked whether or not Sexton will play. "At this time, we anticipate that."

Sexton was one of several players who had allegedly had family members receive meals from an agent, according to a report from Yahoo Sports on Friday.

The freshman point guard sat out Alabama’s season opener against Memphis on Nov. 10 after he was a part of the same FBI investigation. The investigation also resulted in the firing of former Alabama assistant Kobie Baker.

It’s unknown if there are any new details concerning Sexton the latest findings. Johnson refused to give further comment on the matter, only stating that Alabama athletics director Greg Byrne was looking into the matter alongside the university’s compliance department.

"When we feel we need to comment, whenever they finish that process, we will," Johnson said. "But at this time, the plan is let's get ready for this game tomorrow.”

Collin Sexton leads Alabama with 18.4 points and 3.4 assists per game and has scored double digits in his last eight games. Alabama (17-11, 8-7 in the SEC) and Arkansas (19-9, 8-7) are two of six teams tied for third in the SEC with an 8-7 record in conference play.
