How do you think CNO will fill out the roster? We've Delaney Heard, Adam Cottrell, and Quinerly's little brother listed.

Weren't Terrion Arnold and Kool-Aid McKinstry recruited for bball also? Not sure how the scholarships work with football signees playing bball.

Guess it's a slow Friday night.

Completely guessing at this, but I’d imagine they give the extra scholarship to a walk-on for this year. Definitely the kind thing to do. As for the football players, I imagine since they’re under full football scholarship they don’t count against the basketball program scholarships. Just my best guess at it. Could be entirely wrong

That is correct, they don't count against basketball. For the record though they likely will never make any impact on the basketball court. It's incredibly difficult to play both football and basketball and very rare to actually play real minutes in games for both.

I think the football guys have already hung up the hoops dreams… they never joined the bball team last season. It’s just nearly impossible to play both in college. Football takes up 100% of your off season and you aren’t able to join the basketball team until January.. your bball team would have to be desperate for numbers to have any real need for you at that point considering you have been absent for all of the off-season practices plus 2 months of the season already

The football and baseball combo is a better fit, but still extremely difficult and demanding

I agree on athletes trying to play two sports, much less bball and football. Arnold and McKinstry's progress is moving forward, so I'm doubting they play basketball. Maybe at a mid major.

Donovan McNabb was strong

He played in a total of 18 games and averaged 2.8 points per game
The best example I can think of that made it work is Tony Gonzalez at Cal, but you are still going back to the 90’s with that. Antonio Gates ended up great at both, but I don’t think he even played football at Kent State.

Guess in today's world, it'll take an athlete with Micheal Jordan, Bo Jackson, Dave Winfield, etc. (can't think of another elite multi-sport athlete right now) to truly be that guy.

Forgot about Prime Time and Charlie Ward. Thanks! However, in today's world with the dedication required and practice time limits, I'm dubious as to whether kids can be "successful" at more than one major sport.
