It's a gorgeous day in Tuscaloosa as the team undergoes its second scrimmage of the spring. This scrimmage is open to Red Elephant Club members but is closed to the media. I'll bring you a full report on what Saban said following the scrimmage. Here is what I saw during the media viewing period.
Bradley Bozeman remains with the ones at right guard with Alphonse "Shank" Taylor with the twos. Brandon Greene is with the twos at right tackle.
Deionte Thompson was recruited as a safety but he remains with the wide receivers for now. Cooper Bateman is back with the quarterbacks.
ArDarius Stewart is right behind Chris Black as the wide receiver split out to the right. He made a great one-handed catch during warm-ups with his right hand.
You may remember be writing very positively about redshirt freshman quarterback David Cornwell. I continue to be high on him and I'm anxious to hear about how he performed during today's scrimmage. He is now taking second string reps behind Jake Coker. In my opinion, he's one to watch.
With Bo Scarbrough done for the foreseeable future, and with Kenyan Drake still limited, I'm interested to see what running back(s) behind Derrick Henry step up today. Remember that a lot of these numbers you see following the scrimmage come in "situational drills" such as goal line situations. So don't become enamored with statistics, but they can provide a good gauge into how a player is progressing.
Saban is scheduled to meet with reporters following the scrimmage, and I'll bring you the highlights.
