Going into the tournament as an Alabama fan, I was secretly hoping they would end up as a 2 seed due to how strong the 8/9 line is. Now you see why. You have teams like Florida staring at a potential UCONN matchup, Houston likely going to play Gonzaga, and Auburn possibly having to face a top 15 team in the country in Louisville or a dangerous Creighton team. I thought Alabama's draw was as good as they could've hoped. They get a weak 15 seed, and a matchup with either a very slow, unathletic St. Mary's team that has not been tested hardly at all this year, or a team Alabama already throttled this year in Vandy. Make it to the Sweet 16, and it could be BYU/Wisconsin who Alabama matches up beautifully with in how they want to play. Obviously being in Duke's bracket stinks, but you tackle that if you get there.
In terms of this team, I think they are set up for a big run. They are as battle tested of a team that there is in the country. They won't face a team near as good as what they've faced the past 2 weeks until they get to the Elite Eight. Can they still lose before then? Absolutely. What I am saying is, the NCAA Tournament can be a breath of fresh air considering the competition will be easier than the SEC.
