We must have the worst D-line in college football. We are so bad that the oppossing teams never have to hold to keep us off of their QB's. Alabama is such a poorly coached team that in 21 of our last 21 games we have had more penalties than our opponents. This year our opponents have been penalized 24.2 yards per game, which is the 130th out of the top 130 for the lowest total in the FBS. Yes a total of 145 yards for the season. Not one holding penalty in the bunch. When was the last time one of our opponents was flagged for a holding penalty? That is down from 32.9 yards a game last year, which was 128th out of 128, when our opponents averaged four penalties a game.

Last year no opponent had more than 7 penalties in a game and four opponents had their lowest penalty total of the year against Alabama. We also average more than 75% more penalty yardage than our opponents.

We are so bad that no one jumps early to try to block us. No one holds against us. Everyone lines up right against us, there are never intentional groundings, no one commits an illegal pick play and no back ever starts early to get to a hole. In short our defense never gets any respect from our opponents.

The only logical answer is that we have the worst D-line in major college football. We are so bad that people do not have to hold against Alabama.

If I am correct there has not been a holding penalty called against a regular season opponent since the MTSU game of 2015, and that was one of two called that year, the other being against Wisconsin.
