For the last five years, the two major Universities in Alabama have played at the top of the College Basketball world, with both making the final four; however, the player pipeline in-state has not expanded. Of the first 10 players on each roster, only two are from the State of Alabama, Mark Sears and Denver Jones, and neither was initially recruited by their head coach.
Something must be done to improve the quality of High School/AAU basketball in the State or we cannot be expected to maintain long range success.
