CNS supposedly told a couple of people what he was considering and to be prepared just in case. The people could have been Greg B and Jimmy S. From there Greg B vetted a few potential candidates with CKD always being the primary target. When CNS pulled the trigger GB already had a lot of confidence that he could hire CKD. JS asked GB for a favor, to give him a little time to get raises for a few clients…GB told him no more than 72 hours. The early candidates CDL, CSS and CMN were never in play…CLK was off the board years ago. After Norvell got his deal done…GB finalized the agreement with CKD. This was a textbook case of a well orchestrated plan working as it was always planned to work. I would be very interested to know who the other vetted candidates were in the event CKD punted on the deal. This story was told to me this afternoon by a friend who knows an important UA Donor? It might not have gone off exactly the way I was told it happened but it sounds reasonably plausible.
