CFB is such a mess…

Have you seen the ad with Hugh Freeze (a multimillionaire) asking his fan base to send him their money as a contribution to the Auburn NIL pot so that Hugh can keep his job? I am not picking on Hugh or Auburn because Alabama and everyone else is doing the exact same thing. But the absurdity of this whole thing is off the charts…it’s way out of control. I am all for people receiving what they earn regardless of who they are and how they legally earn it. Think about this we are paying kids who haven’t earned a darn thing and some of who can not even verbally form a sentence more money than a lot of us earn before they have ever even entertained us. Do entertainers get paid based on their performance in their HS play? Don’t actors and entertainers have to earn their way onto screen or stage? CFB needs to get this fixed.

Shelton State Women

I’ve watched them a couple times. Always been good but I’ve sat right behind their bench tonight just to listen to her coach. She’s legit. She coaches the right things. She isn’t up hollering and acting a fool just to do it. If there’s nothing to say, she doesn’t say it. And when there is, she’s on it. Doesn’t hurt that knows how to recruit better players than he competition either…

Officiating ...

I don't know if my aged memory is failing me but I believe this is the weirdest year I can remember where officiating has played such a major role in the outcome of games with missed calls, no-calls, phantom calls, late calls, etc.! Especially in the NCAA, and NFL! Although I gave up on the NBA years ago I do see some news about officiating and arbitrary calls there. Seems most come at critical junctures in the game in all these sports!

Anyone else?

Football 🏈 A new front runner in Alabama's OC search

There is a new frontrunner in the race to become Alabama’s next offensive coordinator. According to sources, the Crimson Tide is targeting Washington offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb for the position following Bill O’Brien’s departure last week.

Tide Illustrated can confirm multiple reports that Grubb, 47, met with Nick Saban to discuss the opening at Alabama.

During his first season at Washington last year, Grubb’s offense featured the nation’s top passing attack, averaging 369.8 yards per game through the air. The Huskies ranked No. 2 in total offense (516.2 yards per game) and No. 7 in scoring offense (39.7 points per game)

Grubb also oversaw quarterbacks at Washington and help Michael Penix Jr. lead the nation averaging 357 passing yards per game. Penix averaged just 187.8 yards over five starts with Indiana in 2021.

Last season was Grubb’s first at the Power 5 level. Before joining Washington, he served as Fresno State’s offensive coordinator from 2019-21.

Grubb saw his annual salary rise to $2 million last month and would likely receive another pay raise if hired by Alabama.

I gotta question

And dont jump me. I quit watching NFL a long time ago and I totally shut it down after the kneeling thing. That being said, I havent watched Jalen but I did watch the game yesterday. I was one of the doubters that he’d be successful in the NFL. I am pulling for him, btw. He’s proved me wrong. However, as I watched him yesterday, I saw what I saw in college. Passes over thrown, simple passes and him running. Has he done that all season? I kept telling myself, “we’ll, he’s changed because there‘s no way that college Qb can make in the NFL. What gives?
