Run the ball! Check these stats!

I think the vertical passing game and protecting the QB are the best when we spend some time under center or in the pistol running the ball and using play action. Just wanted to throw that out there. But check out these stats from this past weekend…insane.

Navy beat UCF- 64 plays- 63 rushes for 248 yards and 0-1 passing.
Army beat UCONN- 59 plays- 58 rushes for 320 yards and 0-1 passing.
Air Force beat Colorado State- 73 plays- 71 rushes for 359 yards and 0-2 passing.

Let’s not go this extreme. But let’s find our identity again.

GIF breakdown: Examining Jase McClellan's big runs against Austin Peay

Nearly half of McClellan’s touches over the weekend went for first downs or touchdowns while five resulted in gains of 10 yards or more. Those who were able to keep up with him didn’t do much to slow him down either. According to Pro Football Focus, the 5-foot-11, 212-pound back drug defenders an average of 5.69 yards per attempt after contact.

GIF breakdown: Alabama's offense struggled near the end zone against LSU

Counting the pair of failed two-point conversions, Alabama ran 11 plays inside LSU’s 10-yard line. They resulted in a loss of 2 yards.

Thoughts: Alabama Dominates Jax St 104-62

Alabama played to potential tonight and you see where all the hype came from. This team doesn’t have any egos, they all impact the game in positive ways, and do whatever it takes to win.

Tonight was the Brandon Miller breakout game. He is a generational talent for Alabama and he showed why tonight. Being 6’9 and hitting 7 threes, while playing great defense will get him drafted top 10-15 in the NBA Draft. He has a +/- of 100 through 4 games. He makes winning plays every single game.

The 3 PG lineup of JQ, Bradley, and Sears is so fun to watch. Oats loved playing 3 PGs in Buffalo and it was very effective there, and it showed to be effective tonight. It’s an elite scoring lineup and they’re able to spread it out and let each of the PGs go to work. Look for that lineup more as the season moves on.

Alabama shot 21/46 from 3 and 12/19 from inside the arc tonight. I said earlier this year to expect 10 threes made on average, but if they hit close to 20 they’re near impossible to beat. The reason being that this team is so elite defensively and those threes are killers for the opposing team. Alabama only allowed 23 in the second half after allowing 39 in the first half. Tonight was the get right game for Nimari Burnett as he scored 18 on 5/6 shooting from 3.

This team is legit.

Heads up for tomorrow's game!

24 HOUR NOTICE! If you're like me you expect every Alabama game to be on Broadcast TV. Tomorrow's game will be streaming on ESPN+/SEC Network+. This can be easy on your phone or computer, and since many of us have been around a while, a little more tricky on a big screen TV. Good Luck and Roll Tide! Some of our technology savvy guys can be the Help Desk or you can reach out to @Tony_Tsoukalas girlfriend. ;)
