Can/Should Oats learn from last year and UK???

For all of the hoopla and talent surrounding last year’s team, in the end that team relied heavily on freshmen. When you look at coach Cal and his yearly failures he is typically relying on 4-6 of the best incoming freshmen every season. I know you always take a Stevenson, Miller or Clowney when you can but the data is strongly pointing towards building your team every season through the portal. I wonder if we’ll start to see, and maybe we have at other schools, coaches significantly cut back on recruiting high school kids. As somebody mentioned yesterday, Stevenson isn’t the same “kid” that he was 4 months ago. If he puts up another solid effort against UConn I think you’ll see him be tempted to leave for the NBA.

Final Four - Phoenix 2024

I am heading out to Phoenix on Wednesday. Fortunately, I already have my tickets as I got them through the NCAA lottery, so I was going even before Bama punched their ticket! Obviously, now it's an even more special event to attend! I would certainly like the opportunity to meet some of the posters on this board (notice that I didn't say all!) while there. Tony, Jordan, Jack, Dean, Vegas, T-Wigs, etc. any ideas on locations to Bama events during the Final Four? I know that Bama's open practice session is from 1:00-1:50 on Friday, so I know that I will be there to watch. Probably head to Fan Fare at the convention center after that.

Since this is such a special week in Bama Basketball history, we should also have a truce on this board - no bitching, no personal wars, no name calling, etc. No mention of any other sport this week and focus on the business at hand! Our "Dream" season is finally here (I've waited almost 60 years for this moment!), and we should thoroughly enjoy the fruits of this teams' labor and have nothing but positive vibes! Let's all pull together and bring home our First Men's Basketball National championship in the same stadium that we beat Clemson in the football NC game in 2016! Roll Tide!!

Football 🏈 News and nuggets from Alabama's first spring scrimmage

Alabama's first scrimmage was closed to the public, but I was able to gather some intel from a few sources in attendance. Here's what we learned, including:

— A look at the QB room
— A healthy Parker Brailsford absent from scrimmage
— A nice day from Alabama's backfield
— Caleb Odom looking solid at receiver
