Why do they continue to allow this nonsense? You can't draft anyone who isn't at least a junior in CFB. Why is this practice not honored by the NBA? Too many freshman are drafted into that meat factory before they've had time to develop in college and many never see the court much in the pros as a result.

Because basketball doesn’t require as much physical development as football. It’s a skill-based game and they have much more time to teach in the pros than in college. Draft upside and develop.

For a number of reasons. The first and most obvious is that basketball isn't football. It's not anywhere close to being as physical, so you can't use the excuse of protecting the player.

Next, it is up to the league themselves to set those parameters and since there are no danger to the players what reason do they have to not bring along young talent into their league? The NBA is not responsible for the growth of the college game that already makes billions off these players.

Last would be, what better place to get NBA coaching than in the NBA? The NBA game is so different from the college game that it's more beneficial for players to start getting NBA coaching as soon as possible instead of figuring out how to attack a 2-3 zone in college while still having to go to class, I might add.

JD is a terrible passer. Scared me to death last night. Oats really needs to talk with him. He almost cost us the game. Glad that the team could overcome JD's weak passing attempts.

The one and done had been detrimental to the overall quality of college basketball. The NBA simply uses the college game as they see fit.
Some on here ( well, mainly one person) always references the dollars made by the sport off the poor mistreated student athletes. It is comical at times.

And just like the NIL it hurts the sport.

Why should the NBA care about helping CBB make more money anymore than they already have? The NBA doesn't use CBB for anything other than to evaluate players for one more year. Many of the top picks are already considered to be top 10-15 picks before they play one minute of CBB. I wish they would allow kids to go straight to the league but they did the one and done and they helped the game. The buzz that Zion created in his one year helped a lot of people in college athletic get rich.

As for NIL, you are not allowed to own people anymore, it simply is not legal. College athletic was hiding behind the falsehood of amateurism to do just that for a long time. Nick Saban gets paid 10 million dollars a year, there are a shit ton of coaches right behind him at 7, 8, and 9 million dollars a year. And you really want to pretend this game is about amateurism 😂.

You nor anyone else have the right to tell someone they can't profit off their NIL. It is their NIL, not something you gave to them. As for the point most people make that schools will start "cheating" to get recruits using NIL, I say fvck it. If it happens, it happens, but don't blame the players. Blame the adults who are doing the cheating. The adults who already profit off of college athletics...

Of course that is what YOU say. And everyone on here knew who I was referring to in my post.
Got news for you- nobody has EVER owned anybody that has played collegiate sports. That is YOUR terminology and everyone knows what you are referencing. More of the same.
I said NIL would be Pandora’s Box and I am already being proven to be correct.
Texas OL signees getting $50,000 per year is only the beginning. So enhanced cheating is okay with you as long as money is “ being taken from the man”.

Very telling

You're about as dumb as a box rocks. So you want to take away someone's rights to earn money off their NIL just because the adults who are already getting paid handsomely off of college athletics decides to use the rule to "cheat"? Who does that hurt? Not the people already benefitting from the 4 billion dollars that CFB bring in annually from just the Power 5 teams alone. If the Texas OL gets 50k good for them. A student on an academic scholarship in the music program at a university can go out in perform at concerts; making money off their NIL and no one cares.

I have already proven how idiotic your assumption that it's about race. Only 18% of D1 athletes are black. Even less when you get to D2, in total on 9% of all student athletes are black. You still fail to even acknowledge the fact the college athletic as a whole generates over 10 billion dollars a year. You think them playing last year through Covid was about doing what is best for the athletes. HELL NO, it was about the money that would be lost if there wasn't a season...

JD will get drafted without scoring points? Sure.....
You think Josh Primo was an accomplished shooter? He was just ok. His athleticism like JDs was off the charts and both have all the tools and upside.

Did I mention race? Nope. That was you/ once again. Not surprising.

You are obsessed and come off as the sort of guy who thinks he is always the smartest guy in the room. All you know how to do is throw around insults with people who disagree with your “ opinion”. The non revenue generating sports and those athletes will never be offered $50,000 a year/ because the boosters could care less about those sports.
Laughable is your take.

I come into a debate with facts, you come in with nothing but your feelings. If it’s just the two of us in a room, being the smartest one in there doesn’t take much.

The whole point of NIL is that everyone have the same opportunity to go out and profit from their NIL. No one ever said everyone would get the same amount of money or even close to the same. It’s called a free enterprise. My take was NEVER that everyone would get the same or that everyone would even get a deal.

Kids can be creative in ways to make money like having a YouTube channel. But it’s up to that kid to capitalize on NIL. The first students we saw get NIL deals were from non revenue sports, the LSU kid (I think it was LSU) and the twins at Fresno St.

In the rush to play at all out speed JD makes careless turnovers. He seems to have an unusual number of deflection as he passes in heavy traffic and hands tip the passes. Or at least last night he did. At times in the first half he looked to be completely out of control running the offense. I am hoping for significant progress in his ball handling skills as the season goes on. Gurley on the other hand played above my expectation, hustling to the board and playing with toughness.

Now do turnovers.
No doubt JD makes too many turnovers but that's not going to keep an NBA team from falling in love with him at the combine. That was what sealed the deal for JP. By all accounts he was the most impressive talent there. Now if JD goes and struggles with drills and shooting then no chance his athletisicm propels him into lottery status.

Primo was a great catch and shoot for us actually in some games. UA literally never relied on his athletic ability.

I respectfully disagree with your statement. You haven't been paying attention if you didn't recognize when his athleticism was on display. He was literally the fastest player on the court and had great skills around the bucket.

IMO I would say Primo was passably athletic and crafty, but not an elite athlete…he was and still is a head below the rim jumper. Good straight line speed, but slower than Kira Lewis and certainly not elite NBA speed. Relatively poor strength and frame, although at 19 he still has time to fill out.

Primo was picked early because he has good height for a combo guard and his emerging ball skills and solid mechanics made him intriguing based on how much he balled out at the combine.

Guys like Ja Morant, De’Arron Fox, Anthony Edwards, Donovan Mitchell, Zach Lavine, Westbrook, even a Dennis Smith Jr….those are elite athletes.
