Advice needed: Thinking about a trip to Colorado

We have never been to Colorado and we are looking to make a trip. We have always heard good things, but just never made it out that way.

Any Advice would be appreciated. It would be my wife, teenage daughter and I

Advice on the best time of the year, locations, things to do, places to visit, etc.....

Timeframe: Looking at March, June, or October these months are probably my best opportunity for extended leave.
