McDyess off the bench with those 5 and I would like my chances.

Hard to argue these five

All time team- C Derrick McKey, Leon Douglas; F Antonio McDyess, Robert Horry, Mule King, Keith Askins, Erwin Dudley; G Ennis Whatley, Terry Connor, T.R. Dunn, Latrell Sprewell, Mo Williams.

T.R. Dunn was one of the two best defensive players that I have ever seen play for Alabama, the other being Herb Jones.

Keith Askins was not even good enough to start on his college team. Of course that team had Micheal Ansley, Terry Coner, Derrick McKey, Jim Farmer, Mark Gottfried, James Jackson, and Craig Dudley along with Keith Askins, so where was Keith suppose to start. Keith Askins may have been as good a three point shooter as I have ever seen.

Ellis reminds me so much of Sprewell. They were both JC transfers that took most of their first year to develop. The end of the first year and the second year Sprewell blossomed into an awesome player. Mule King was the second most powerful forward that I ever saw play at the college level, the first being Barkley. I think I saw a player this year that has the potential to be as good as King and Barkley in Gary.

This would be a great team. Hard to leave Horry ,Sexton, Dunn , and Ainsley off the starting team but a heck of a bench. Harper was a different era but I suspect he could play. And I just thought of Bob Andrews and Mike Nordholz A lot of great choices.

I won’t respect a list that doesn’t Sexton on it. 1 of 4 players in Bama history to be picked top 10 and he’s averaging over 20 in the NBA in his 3rd year. He just had an unfortunate circumstance with Avery as coach and still averaged nearly 20.

I’d go:
Sexton
Horry
Whatley
McDyess
Douglas

For me it comes down to criteria: Are we talking pure talent, or are other things a factor. For me, I have Pett, not because I believe he's the most talented, but: 1. He led the Elite 8 team. 2. He's a Bama guy for life and has turned down good coaching opportunities because he loves Alabama. 3. I'll never forget watching him and his red shoes.

Regarding Sexton, it's hard for me to have him because we only got him for one year and it was a disappointing season.

I think Paul Ellis should be added to the team to come off the bench in a close game when free throws were going to shot. He was a good ball handler and terrific free throw shooter. I do not miss many free throws at the end of the game. Anthony Murry is still shooting in a classic SEC tournament basketball game against Kentucky. Also, Charles Cleveland was noted as one of the all time athletes that played guard for Alabama. He was the second player to start the transition of
Alabama under C.M. Newton and deserves a spot on the team.

Definitely wasn’t because of him though. He’s the reason we made it and won a game. He was 1st team all SEC with an awful coach and limited role players. Basically had to do it all himself. Pett was surrounded by great talent

Great list. But no list should be without Mule King

I have watched Bama BB since ‘84. There have been a lot of great players, especially in the 80’s and early 90’s, but, in the years I have seen them play, there is little doubt in my mind that Sexton is the best player to wear a Bama BB uniform. He is what I thought, and was hoping, James “Hollywood” Robinson was going to be(not that Robinson was not a very good BB player).

Not questioning that at all! Sexton was incredible. Just saying for me as a fan there are others that would be ahead of him for the above reasons

Yeah you just can’t fault Sexton because he was too good for more than one season of college basketball lol

I also would add Pettway due to leadership and sheer will to push the team to their potentia.

Enimo was a lot like Bo Jackson in the MLB or NFL
Some brilliant moments but lacked consistency. Not a good shooter either

I think TC was a great college pg

Wendell Hudson had incredible numbers and never gets his due in these lists either imo

Paul would have been great for the 3 point game. I believe he held the consecutive FT record for Bama at one time.

Not much love for Erwin Dudley.
SEC player of the year
All-American
Led SEC in rebounding 3 straight years

You’re faulting him for only playing one season and that team not being good.
Not faulting him one bit.... we’re talking about ALL TIME players. And I have more criteria than just talent. I understand having him on your list, but I’m considering more in my list than just talent. You trollin’ me bro?

I know it was a different era, but Jerry Harper was the most dominant player we have ever had. For his 4 year career he averaged 20 points and 18 rebounds per game. His senior season he averaged 23 points and 21.5 rebounds per game. I believe the rebounding numbers may still be SEC records.
