it seems like alex t, holt, miles, rojas, gurley, and maybe q or shack couid not be back next year for different reasons. hopefully oats will use the transfer portal wisely to go with this impressive incoming class. would like to see a couple of quality players added. roll tide

Welcome to modern college basketball where turnover can be so crazy you can lose 70% of your roster and replace them all out of the portal. Don't bother filling out a roster with recruits. Just focus recruiting time on the top 50 difference makers and finish filling the roster out of the portal.

It seems like the barn's current team is mostly new players. Or at least the key players other than Flannigan and Cambridge seem to be new.

Crazy to have that kind of turnover expected on a top 15 team.

This reads like a "click bait" type of post. Obviously all of those guys could exit the program for a variety of reasons. Maybe it's just me but seems like you're trying to insinuate turmoil within the program. Again, may just be me.

Gurly is a grad transfer and Rojas is a senior. Alex T has not had any playing time to speak of, so he will probably transfer. Holt was getting some PT as was Miles so they might want more minutes somewhere else.
Thanks Mr4.

I could see all leaving, except Holt. W will go pro. Shackelford thinks he is pro ready and will leave. Gurly is a grad transfer. Alex T hadn’t panned out. Miles has not bought in to Oats system and stays in dog house. Rojas is a senior and got lucky to even return this year.

Who is W? If you mean Q, I don't think its a lock he is going pro.

Q isn't in any mock drafts that I've seen, and I've looked at about 13 total. JD is in the top 20 in about 90% of them. About 70% have Keon going in the draft either 1st or 2nd round.

This proves despite my love for basketball… I know nothing. I can’t imagine putting a team together and actively saying, “yep, give me JD and his 25% turnover rate over one of the best point guards in the country.”

Given the dang climate in College Basketball the whole team may not be back next year and it seems basketball is heading to where a coach has to build his team from scratch every year. My take is this, every time we get a decent player on the team or a player has a big game, OH he is a one and done! This is becoming nothing more than what you indicated to click bait reads.
Obviously the NBA (of which I do not watch anymore ) deems college basketball does not prepare players properly with the creation of the G-League and the rule of allowing one and done entry. That is why the League so called super stars want to form their own loaded teams and the rest is watered down as Charles Barkley has strongly advocated.
The OP brings very good information to this site and I am grateful for his contribution and in no way is my post being critical of him. My post are my take or opinion and that only.

Every year since Oats has been here this has been a topic. After the first year you and many others wanted all of Johnson recruits to leave ASAP, yet they were the ones to lead this team to the Sweet 16. You couldn't wait until this was finally Oats' team with HIS players now it appears that some want HIS players gone so he can bring in more of HIS players. I just want him to coach the players he has now and get the best out of them...

I don’t see a pro player on this team right now unless they’re going to be a pro accountant or IT guy or something. JD maybe in two years. I thought JQ was coming into this year. Shack a streaky shooter but can’t beat many off the dribble. Ellis is only a junior and I’d love to have him back. I mean all these guys could play overseas and make money but not NBA talent imo. My guess we get
Davison Bediako JQ Ellis Frenchy and Burnett back. JQ would be the one I’d guess most likely to leave from this group.

Ellis is a senior. I'm just guessing, but going by JQ's recent body language and demeanor, I'm expecting him to leave. Gary should be back, and possibly Miles.

Dang I thought Ellis was a JR. Gary is a good player and could be a Herb Jones like contributor next year. Sure hope these McDonalds guys and Griffin can ball immediately. I think I over valued a few of our guys after such a great start.

He’s a senior but technically could come back because last year didn’t count against eligibility

Ellis is Bama's best player. He doesn't get enough plays drawn up for him nor does he do a lot of one on one like Shack and JQ so his numbers isn't what it should be IMO. But he will be a pretty good NBA player and his game translate to the NBA better than anyone on the roster. JMO.

I like Gary but I fear he's reaching his ceiling. Don't get me wrong if he puts the work in and can improve his 3 point shot watch out but he still makes a lot of dumb (fatigue) fouls. Ideally he'd be a 6-8 guy not the top 4-5 guy this team expects of him.

When Ellis is at top of his game he's definitely best all around player on our team. Problem is for every good game he has he'll rattle off 3 stinkers, but I guess you could say that about everyone right now.

Gary was the guy I was hoping would fill the void left with Herb gone. Especially on the defensive end.
