A lot of talk about how todays loss being Herbs fault..

At the end of the day, this to be on Oats.

Our offense has absolutely no structure to it so why does it surprise anyone that we try to play iso ball at the end of the game? Herb has been our best offensive player all year so to blame him is nonsense.

If you pointing the finger at anyone, it’s at Oats. He has to come up with a gameplan for end of game situations because this team won’t be blowing out anyone this year the way we play.

We have to get the offense going, especially if JQ isn’t going to be a major part of the team this year. Shack has regressed and Bruner isn’t what we thought he was. Why are we not posting Petty up? He is a beast when doing so.

Just my two cents. We had no reason losing to Western Kentucky at home.

We're nearly a season and a half into the Oats regime and he has underwhelmed to say the least. We're just 2 games over .500 since he got here. He talks a good game and recruits well, but the proof is in the pudding. Right now that pudding is half baked and inedible.

only way oats gets this turned around is quinerly has got to play like the 5 star he was coming out of high school. we rarely score with herb at the point.

You're right. He tells herb to clank 10 off the rim per game. All oats talks about is taking open shots. Herb RARELY does. Hes a player that when he's out there the game plan goes out the window.

I disagree with your assessment of Herb, but let's say you're right. Who puts Herb on the floor? Who puts him in position to have the ball in his hand setting up the offense? Does herb have some nude pics of him with a hooker or something?

Think of what he inherited. Hes the best option. You just can't run offense through him. He inherited good athletes and bad basketball players. Oats has done good about bringing higher iqs in like Bruner

Let’s struggle through this seasons and judge more when the seniors graduate. These guys aren’t a fit for his “system”. I know I know..not an excuse because you play with what you got and he brought in some new guys, but these seniors aren’t great and they make up a lot of what we have offensively.

Reese wouldn't play on any power 5 in the country. Herb would get defensive minutes but they'd tell him not to touch the ball. He literally can't hit anything at the rim. Our roster has got better luckily and we will have a winning record in the sec

The point is he has brought in plenty other guys, "his guys" and they are not good enough to take minutes away from what you seem to deem as terrible players. That's on Oats. This isn't football where it might take some time to overturn a roster, hell one really good player can carry your team just ask Avery.

Until he proves me otherwise I view him as the Gus Malzahn of CBB, he can only succeed coaching one style and if that is not working he has no other answer to help coach his teams to wins.

Obviously you didn't watch us play a very good Furman and likely mid major conference champ. We solely came back due to oats after the break. The most intensity from an alabama team in a decade. All him pulling the avery Johnson players and rolling with his. Thats leadership.

Keep trying to convince yourself Furman is a good win.

EDIT: Yes I know who they have upset this year, still being happy to pull a come from behind win against Furman does not instill confidence in Oats coaching ability.

They are. They are one of the best mid majors in the country. A very senior roster and very smart team. Its funny that in his 1st year his system was 3rd in the country in scoring. The rest will come. 0 worry

exactly, if @BaselineLeaner4 did this comparison through the first 7 games this year he would see an increase in efficiency at this point in the season. 31 games versus 7 games and shack stepped it up and performed much better in league play. thats where his stats boost came last year. Hes ahead of where he was this time last year and that is great news for us. Like you said, only scored in single digits once. that is huge.

Man... I’m so sick of saying “wait til next year” 8 games into a season. It’s becoming nauseating. The reality is... someone will transfer, someone else will tear their Achilles, and another player will inexplicably regress. Davison will be a phenomenal 1 and done player on a bubble team, and repeat.

We were 4-4 after 8 games last season. That's not a losing record. You'd think a "stats" guy would know that.

My bad. At 1 point we were 2-4 and ended 4-4 even though we had a much easier schedule!
